"Warriors For Revival" is the origin of our songwriting experience. We submitted this track for a songwriting contest within the church. Of course it was rejected as it is too intense even for the youth audience. However a decade later we've decided to remaster it, from amateur studio recording to professional home recording. It takes a passion and effort to nail this song's nuance, which is why we reproduce it purely DIY and not entrusting it to unpassioned studio engineer. Working with Hans is always an inspiring process.  The music relationship both Gal and myself have formulated with him over the last few years has never grown stale, because he is so endlessly innovative when interpreting the songs we regularly wing over to his studio in Hamburg.  By contrast, what we say to each other on these occasions is always the same.  “It’ll be nothing like we’re expecting” is our mantra and, sure enough, what comes back never is.  His arrangements are always - and I do mean always - so much better than anything we could possibly have imagined.

It was during what has become a regular exchange of emails that Hans said something which became the inspiration for this song.  He runs his own company, in what could be described as both a creative but stressful industry - advertising.  Not so long ago, his frustrations with certain clients was getting under his skin, feeling that far too often he was wasting his time and energy on those who supplanted boldness and enthusiasm for unnecessary worry and reservation. “It takes loop after loop after loop of needless discussion which means nothing really happens…”, was how he put it.  Having had to tolerate many similar frustrations during my working life - I’d  retired some years before due to ill health - I knew precisely how he must be feeling.

His cri de cœur of “Loop after loop after loop” stuck in my mind and the next time I picked up my guitar, strumming random chords in the way I often do, these were the words I sang.  So this song for my wonderful friend Hans is from the heart and one I hope will bring a quantum of solace for all he is forced to tolerate in his working life.

First song I am posting in 2024!

This is what I wrote in 2013 when I first thought about posting Nothing But (The Sound) but decided to take it down from the cloud short after. 

"Nothing But (The Sound)" is Plastic Inevitable's first song since 2011! Plastic Inevitable is Marty Procaccio, AKA Blankets, working the sound and Sneekie San Salvador tweaking the sound. The recording for this song began in 2011 in the bedroom recording studio of Marty in Santa Clara California using GarageBand and a whole bunch of pedals. The song was completed in 2013 with vocals recorded in Sneekie San Salvador's mobile Toyota recording unit.

Now it is 11 years later...

I am amazed that I found the vocal stems. I had to look though an old hard drive to find them. I did not feel like digging through more old hard drives for the original track stems. Big thanks to Russell for taking the time to mix the vocals and master the track. I told Russell, when I mixed the original instrumental I was listening to a lot of shitgaze bands at the time. 

May you find many gems when you dig into your past.
