Iki – an elegant, refined manifestation of beauty that combines seductiveness, composure, and modesty.

Nendouryoku – psychokinesis and telekinesis.

Sabi – archaism, genuineness, authenticity, peace of mind in loneliness.

Sumi-e – monochrome ink painting.

Sayonara is not just a farewell, it is a word spoken when someone no longer expects to meet. It is a farewell forever.

Hopes Of A Broken Heart...

Based on recording of an anxious rehomed cocker spaniel awaiting our return and howling the place down... her name is Tully. We’ve had her for five days. She is still very anxious about the huge change in her life. This recording was made because I was curious to see if she howled when we went out for an hour or so without her. A big “yes”.

I was going to do something a little more adventurous/interesting, but ended up just folding, compacting, cutting and reverbing a chunk of it. Also overlaid is a big furry sound. That’s the ambience of the house when she was silent. The odd ringing effect is because one track was pitched up and that5’s how it turned out – an Audacity accident.

Kyorai was a Japanese haiku poet who first trained as a martial artist before he started writing and became one of Basho’s first disciples.

This is one of Kyorai's most famous poem, and one that Natsume Sōseki used as an example of great haiku poetry when teaching at a high school in Kumamoto.

This week's Disquiet Junto, titled "Phonosynthesis", asked us to record music to help a forest grow. The prompt was inspired by a study that demonstrated the influence of music on fungal growth, like that of the mycelium that connect the roots of plants and trees.

I thought of a deep green primordial forest, and imagined the fractal entanglement of the thread-like mycelium lighting up like neurons as information, nutrients, water, and even electricity flow from tree to tree and plant to plant through this fungal internet. All communication requires a protocol; the entirety of the internet depends on one called TCP/IP. So what would the protocol for the mycelium communication network be like? And what would it sound like?

The Last Candle Burns

Lost In The Static pulls listeners into a sonic haze, where sound and emotion collide in waves of dissonance and warmth. This track explores the feeling of being both enveloped and isolated, suspended in layers of static where echoes and phantoms blur reality. With haunting vocals and crushing soundscapes, Lost In The Static creates a space where memories feel close yet distant, and every note carries the weight of unspoken longing. It's a journey through fading light, where the static becomes a sanctuary, and the noise reveals what words can't.

Tempo Original time stretched by almost exactly half... So 114 BPM feel... However now I tap it out and feels quadruple time or around 230 BPM. Makes sense when you listen to it but don't fully understand yet how I've ended up with that tempo from Time stretching a 57 BPM piece x 2! 🤯 Will iron that one out maybe... Time stretch has offered a wonderful rhythmic gait here... I guess it can be just counted in 3 timings that's all

Root D - Solfeggio 285Hz (Note: adding this pure sine wave tone over the song throughout is interesting. In this world this frequency has the ability to physically heal cells. Listening to the song and that tone in unison may be offering a nice resonance and focus for that. 

The discovery of the double time idea a fluke find. Played x 2 by mistake thats what seeded it 🎶 Timestretched properly in DAW then re drove the tune with Bass, piano, and usual TBD pads. Re sang over as best as I could... Will be nice to actually learn it now at this tempo... Two tunes from one accidentally... almost... This universe is pretty epic!

Tempo originally borrowed from this piece. In it the person leading it is playing a Duduk. A traditional Armenian instrument and possibly the most emotive instrument I have ever heard (aside from human voice and animal sounds of course) and seen be played on video. I'm led to believe that feeling it in the flesh too is pretty other worldly...
My first impression when listening to this was... If the universe could put animal crying into an instrument and then made a human that was perfect to play it... It makes one of the hardest things to talk about still.... Crying.... Emotion... Release of our negative energy and the effect we see when we appreciate something beautiful to the fullest... It makes what might seem dark... Oh so beautifully light! The Beautiful Dark... And when we maybe appreciate the darkness for what it is... It's just showing us the way to the light. So if it shows me the light. Then that's beautiful because it's showing me a way I want to follow... Armenians have been showing us all the way for longer then most of us maybe have known... Let's appreciate them

To give a mention to Armenia's border areas. Included is the region of Ngorno-Karabakh which is not actually connected to Armenias mainland and I think deserves a special mention to remind us of that 'connection' even if it's physically disconnected.
