“Daevas”, meaning divinities of chaos and disorder in the Zoroastrian faith, is the combined effort of SARIN x SCARLIT PORT recorded in Berlin during the lockdown of 2020. 

The six track 30 minute EP is a winding journey that dives into both artists’ shared Persian heritage by referencing ancient pagan Gods, mysticism and the more recent tragic histories of colonialism, dictatorships, longing and a sense of being uprooted. 

These unwinding stories and artefacts are imprinted within a dark cascade of sounds incorporating and combining each artist’s influences to create a total work that encompasses elements of techno body music, acid, industrial and the subtle application of more traditional Persian musical forms.

FERMA012 is up close and personal to the Athenian scene. Label co-runner, Morken unveils a diverse 4-tracker infused with an immersive blend of intricate breakbeats, heavy low end and gritty vocals. Remix duties from two staple personas of the local scene, DJ Problems and Fragedis, who are hitting the spot once more.

DJ Problems is one of the driving forces behind Fade Radio, a community-based radio in Athens that is ever-growing, and has recently launched his own label named Street Fighter Honda with a fantastic VA full of surprises. He is also known for his productions as Bekha Mujiri on labels such as Abstract Reality & Meta Moto.

Fragedis has been a consistent presence for more than 15 years, with releases on legendary labels like Modal Analysis & Pi Electronics among others. He co-runs Healthy Summer, an iconic festival in Sougia, Chania, which has hosted the likes of Delta Funktionen, Alienata, Sawf and ANFS just to name a few

People often say a picture is worth a thousand words, but what of a song? Take a single song and show it to a thousand people and you’re bound to get a thousand different interpretations, moods, reactions and opinions. Far Out Radio Systems latest offering aptly named, “Far Out Radio Systems Vol. 03” embodies that theory and more. The four tracks selected stretch from club centric to jungle and there and back again. Each full to the brim with a myriad of emotions and moments. With that being said, we here at Fiction have chosen, “In A Moment of Pure Being (4 A.M. Mix)” to premier in full and what a ride it is.

The track begins, with the sounds of birds chirping. Dipping in, and out of the background, as a lone piano melody floats in the midst. Progressing along, there is tension in the air as the hi-hats and snares come in, quickly followed by the kick and the track is rocketing off. Characteristically of many of his remixes and originals, the drums are in full effect and immediately recognizable and lend a heavy hand to the almost somber feeling of the track. Albeit there is a sense of hope once the melody returns in the second half.

Overall this is another great entry in the legacy of Far Out Radio Systems (aka Kiani and His Legion). This is vinyl only, off of Tanzbar Records, but don’t let that stop you from ordering it. Releases like these don’t come around too often and when they do, you should take note.

PREMIERE: Far Out Radio Systems - In A Moment Of Pure Being (4 A.M. Mix) [Tanzbar Records]

Deep within the maze he wandered between corridors and dense green walls of foliage and fear. He was lost and struggling to find a way out of this twisted fantasy. They'd told him to follow the inner path, it would lead him to where he needed to be and open the door to a world of new found possibilities and an enlightened sense of self. The dark sky loomed overhead as he looked upwards towards the stars and dreamt of home far, far away. He shivered and proceeded onwards...

Blue Hour is a label of which we are most fond here at Ransom Note, it represents that sweet spot between heavy hitting techno, trance and euphoric ambience. It's the type of inspiring, uplifting material which has been keeping us going through a miserable year and for that we tip our hat to them. This track is by Trading Xircles, a collaborative project which focusses on texture and soundscapes as much as it does club ready material.
