Boise, ID rapper “Poontz” formally known as “OG” Born in Penjamo GTO mexico. I was born in Mexico and immigrated to the US when I was 3 years old on my mothers back.  Grew up in and around gang life so I quickly started to see LIFE from a different point of view and started to write about it. Music was my release!!! I saw too many of my friends and family consumed by the pitfalls of society so I’m here to give hope and motivate through music that no matter where you come from or what has happened to you, we are worthy of giving ourselves more in life. I started rap when I was 17 my influences are Chicano rappers like Mr Shadow, Lil Rob, Mr lil one, The Game, Dr Dre etc because that’s what I was mostly exposed to at a young age. I bring a 90’s west coast influence in my beats and a little bit of east coast in my flow some people say I sound like Mack 10, SPM or Big Pun,  they say I got the Cadence/Flow of Meek Mill and the love, pain and heart like Memphis Bleek. 

I’ve shared the stage with artists like Mozzy, Mark Battles, Young Drummer Boy and have headlined my own sold out shows in Boise and Idaho Falls including Treefort Music Festival, Jefito Hats Lowrider Car show and Day Ones Music Festival. 

It’s not easy being a rap artist in Boise!!! I don’t focus on what I can’t do, rather focus on what’s possible!!!

I release all of my music without any MAJOR label distribution on ALL PLATFORMS, currently unsigned and independent. My latest releases include “Might Just Win” by TNYG and “Interlude” feat Chame. My latest EP “Great & Grateful” can be found on all platforms and includes my favorites such as “Dreams” and “Never Stoppin”. I am currently working on my 2nd EP “LEGENDARY” set to release mid February working closely with Kras @ Wave Media and Mac Dylan @ CTRL Studios influenced by years of hard work, sacrifice and perseverance. 

My biggest accomplishments include being a father, becoming a US Citizen and making a difference for myself and for others through music, I work hard to inspire others just like me 🌹🕊
