As one of the longest standing independent record labels in the US, New-York based Nervous Records has released music from many of the legendary producers in dance music, including Todd Edwards, Masters At Work, Armand Van Helden, Todd Terry, Junior Sanchez, Frankie Knuckles, Kerri Chandler and David Morales.

Inspired by uplifting house music at underground raves in a freezing, grey Chicago, Rise Above brings the feeling of music uniting and bringing us together to celebrate and enjoy life.  

One of American dance music’s most pivotal artists of the past couple decades, Kate Simko combines her Chicago roots with her background in piano and London life influences. Kate was welcomed into the dance music scene via the Ghostly /Spectral Sound label alongside Matthew Dear, Ryan Elliot, Seth Troxler, Lee Curtiss, and Benoit & Sergio. Since then her catalogue has grown to include releases on Get Physical, Hello?Repeat, The Vinyl Factory, Leftroom, No.19, and Sasha’s Last Night On Earth imprint, as well as film scores on LA-based Lakeshore Records.  Whether remixing Philip Glass to Guy Gerber, writing for her ensemble London Electronic Orchestra, or co-writing an album with Jamie Jones, Kate’s passion for electronic music shines through. Named one of Chicago’s “Top 10 DJs” by XLR8R Magazine, Kate has performed as a DJ and live act at venues like Berghain, Panorama Bar, Warung, fabric, the Montreal Jazz Festival, Movement Detroit, MUTEK, and Eleven in Tokyo.   Kate began DJing on WNUR radio in Chicago in the early 2000’s where she began with a vinyl-only show.  Her main influences as a DJ are Chicago and Detroit heritage, mixed with other raw, jackin’ and cutting tracks from across the globe.
