<p>Label boss Boris delivers some serious groove-age in the &#8220;Warp&#8221; EP, which storms through the door, courtesy of the title track, and clearly sets the stomping tone. Besides the slamming rhythm section, an industrial vibe runs strong throughout the whole number and warped riffs in the background add to the hypnotic atmosphere. <br />
 Christian Smith&#8217;s interpretation funks things up with old-school hats and subtle, retro sensibilities. Electronic strings add to the epicness and lead directly to the apocalyptic breakdown, which also utilizes the characteristic bell stab of the original.<br />
 On &#8220;My Friend&#8221; we get a bit more mysterious with vocal snippets robotically chanting the title and the bass zipping away hypnotically. Alberto Ruiz picks things up with his more upbeat rendition, however, he shifts the focus on distressed effects and synthetic warfare, which blend effortlessly in to the sublime dubbiness.</p>

Partial PR: The 46th release on microCastle welcomes Patrick Carrera aka MUUI to the label for his debut EP. The Berlin based artist has long been praised for his distinctive design and creative vision. A collection of rare, hard to find equipment coupled with endless nights in the studio has seen Patrick carve out a sound all his own. Never stagnant, always evolving and resonating through his memorable live shows, continuing to deliver a fresh message as he tours the globe. Now following releases for Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music and Marc Poppcke's Crossfrontier Audio, MUUI makes his much anticipated microCastle debut with a brand new 4 track EP entitled 'Amelie'.

The journey continues with the understated yet poignant 'Viik' which finds MUUI exploring subterranean textures and exquisite designs. A genuine sounding creation born from a positive headspace, in the words of Patrick "Delicate. Meditative. Positive. Like throwing paint onto a wall.  Bringing a smile to a strangers face. If you're looking to add a techno track with just enough wonky flair to your repertoire, look no further than "Pastry Chef" by Kevin Knapp. The Austin-born, Berlin-based DJ/producer makes his VIVa MUSiC premiere with the Rumble Fur EP - of which the song is no small part.

"Pastry Chef" isn't the darkest, grittiest techno track on the market; its rubbery synth lead invokes more of the soul characteristic of the genre's origins. The male vocal refrain that rings out every several measures reinforces this theme, along with hi hat placement that invigorates it with a distinct danceability.

"I’m overjoyed to be making my first appearance on VIVa MUSiC," Knapp commented on the Rumble Fur EP. "t’s actually kind of a surreal moment for me as I remember Steve from his Nubreed days and I used to play Adante out a  bunch in San Francisco back in the early aughts. He was part of my introduction to electronic music as a whole at that time, and it seems like things have sort of come full circle now with me making tunes he’s signed."

As for the EP itself, it comes out tomorrow, September 23rd. After listening to "Pastry Chef" above, look out for the rest of the effort as it arrives by way of VIVa MUSiC.

Release Info: 
Motek Music's next release comes from Canada and artists Larose and Josef. Larose has been a regular Motek member from his time living in London and now having moved back home to Montreal has teamed up with Josef for this bold and punchy EP 'Light / Gate'. 'Light', the darker of the two has strong driving bass tones and an industrial feel within the synth sounds, whilst detuning vocals provide focal points and weight to the production. 'Gate' has a strong presence but with a lighter feel than 'Light'. More air in the string synths and guitar add space and a layer of atmosphere as syncopation in the snare and percussion create elements to grab on and dance too. The track is finished and given its forward pushing feel with a pulsing 16th note lead.

Remixing on this release we welcome Barber and Bonaca. Having had Barber as part of lineups on past events, we are very happy to welcome him to the label with his take on 'Light.' He has kept the track dark but added crisp and sharp beats sections intertwined with the space within the bass to give the music bounce. A rich production full of builds and intrigue with subtle fills and tricks to add to the depth and quality. Finally Bonaca has delivered a hypnotic version of 'Light'. Mysterious bell sounds move over warm low and high pads to create the foundation to which hints of the original come though. Strong driving bass lines along with the subtle rise and fall in the arrangement keep the track strong for the dance floor.

PREMIERE: Larose & Josef - Light (Original Mix) [Motek Music]

Suara label boss Coyu first snatched up Spanish producer Bastian Bux in 2015 with his debut EP and has kept close relations with him ever since. Now, the two talents have teamed up for four tracks that make up a brand new EP called 'Sons of Suburbs' which is set to arrive on Suara on December 11. Off the collection, we receive 'One Nine Five', a fluttering, demanding track that explodes out the gate, properly showcasing both Coyu and Bux's impeccable handle on heart-pounding techno.
