Week 28

Once in a while, you hear music that just hits you in all the right places and feels like the perfect fit for your ears and your mind. 

This 4-tracker by Anna V. was one of those for me. 4 great individual pieces that together paint the perfect picture.

I have known Anna V. for years and can assure you she is an artist with great depth, talent, and passion. It shines through from her personality and into her music. To me, that is especially noticeable on this Noir Music release entitled “Aether”.

I hear all her emotions flowing through the soundscapes and although we are dealing with deep, dark techno pieces they all have a distinct sense of hope and light deeply integrated. 

For me, it was love at first listen and I am proud to release these tracks and welcome Anna V. to the Noir Music family.

Asymmetric main man Inigo Kennedy returns to his label with a tasty six track EP 'Perpetual Notions'.

Opening track 'Eidetic Imprints' kicks things off in unadulterated electro mode with intertwining melodies underpinned by a rolling distortion, punctuated with acid. Title track 'Perpetual Notions' follows and is a percussion-driven swirling beast in which to utterly lose yourself. Easing up the tension comes the sprawling 'Nebula', expanding and contracting between scintillating hi-hat drops. 'Repeater' is up next, classic Asymmetric-style machine-gun percussion playing with a background of eerie tones and melodic splinters. 'Corrugation' is the fifth track, with its layers of mechanical percussion and sonic textures floating in and out throughout. The EP finishes up in style with 'Trypophobia', acid-tinged shoe-gaze electronic music at its finest.

After being blown away by so many awesome tracks with so much feeling and soul I felt myself taking a completely new musical direction & had to explore more. I grew up with the Balearic Sound and it never really left me. This type of sound reminds me of the hidden Ibiza with the hippies jamming with live hypnotic percussion, mountainous backgrounds and rolling seas. This mix showcases many different instruments and influences from around the world that I have been lucky enough to see and experience. I hope you like this story..

We all have a dark side, or at least Noir thinks so. Judging by the release we now know as his Pneuma EP, Noir has explored and unleashed that dark side through three distinct yet interconnected tracks.

An especially prolific producer who has repped the likes of Suara, Terminal M, Tronic and Get Physical, Noir’s latest sees him return to his own Noir label for a release that sees him go back to his techno roots with aplomb.

"Sometimes I feel something unfamiliar inside of me is screaming to get out. It makes me feel claustrophobic to suppress and keep it on hold. Then music takes the first step and I take the next. It almost feels like the tracks are writing themselves and I am just there to record. But obviously it comes from a place inside my soul. Pneuma 1 came to life in a situation like that.

On the journey, Pneuma 2 and 3 started breathing as well and eventually I created and finished all three versions at the same time. These are some dark, aggressive pieces but if you listen carefully you hear hope and optimism between the beats." - Noir

"Pneuma" was born during the lockdown. Noir felts something unfamiliar inside of him screaming to get out. So he allowed the music to take the first step and the next. It almost felt like the tracks were writing themselves and he was just there to record. 

"Pneuma" EP comes from a place inside Noir's soul. These songs are some dark, aggressive broken pieces but if you listen carefully you hear hope and optimism between the beats.
