It’s impossible to pick just one highlight from this 11 track odyssey of trademark Matador mind music. Road tested worldwide by the man himself and by Minus godfather Richie Hawtin, this package leaves nothing to chance on the dancefloor. I started this track back in April 2015 and it was pretty much finished already by May. Once i had created those arps wobbling up and down my goal was to keep the feel of the track warm and kinda "classic house". It was the first track i made entirely without vocals after i had finished my album (which is 12 songs/full vocals) so i was pretty happy with myself still being able to create instrumentals.
In August i sent Hot Since 82 another track called "Night Walkers" and when he signed that i felt this one was a very good fit (the housy vibes) but at the same time represented something quite different musically, so the 2 tracks became the "Nightwalker EP" which you can now find on Hot Since 82's "Knee Deep In Sound" label.

I can't quite remember where I was when I first heard this masterpiece from Matt Dear but it resonated with me instantly. And judging by how many DJs got behind it "Mouth to Mouth" was destined to become a classic. The 10 year anniversary is quite special for me not only because of how timeless and relevant the track remains, but 2006 was also the year I branched out as a solo artist. So thank you Matt for the inspiration and I hope my take on it complements the original masterpiece. - Dubfire

As well-received as Audion's debut album—the sawed-off techno of Suckfish—was back in 2005, Matthew Dear's alter ego didn't assert its dominance until the following year. That's when Richie Hawtin slipped Audion's next single (the anthem-on-arrival that is "Mouth to Mouth") into the closing set of Detroit's Electronic Music Festival, pulling the pin on the weekend's most explosive moment and leaving everyone wondering what the hell just happened. 

Which was kinda the point. Dear wrote and recorded "Mouth to Mouth" right after a two-week tour of Europe, and in many ways, its hypnotic rhythms and signature bee swarm hook—cut in real time over the course of a couple restless hours—are meant to replicate the rush he felt in many overseas clubs.

"There was a great energy being shared by a lot of artists then," explains Dear. "I remember playing the song for a few people and it was clear something special was happening, something meditative in the simple repetition and slow build of it all."

The side-long single has stood the test of time, too, enough to warrant another look along the ambitious lines of Mouth to Mouth 10. The double pack reveals how one track can take on a life of its own in the hands of eight distinct producers, keeping its core intact without being afraid to manipulate the record's overall mood. So while Riva Starr's mischievous version sounds like it could be dropped in the middle of a sweaty Horse Meat Disco set, Dubfire lurks in the shadows, waiting to strike; and Dense & Pika crank up the chaos like a pressure cooker set to self-destruct.

"I asked everyone to treat their remix like a cover," explains Dear, "letting the theme guide them rather than the parts. Everyone put a piece of themselves into it, and I'll forever be grateful to them for contributing." 

He can also breathe a sigh of relief, for Mouth to Mouth 10 marks the end of Audion's first chapter and the beginning of what's to come with his long-awaited second LP this summer.

Michel De Hey warmed our winter blues with this sizzling slice of summer house back in December of last year. Inspired by his summer beach residency in Karavaan, ‘You Feel Alive’ was a roof-raising, arm-waving anthem in the making and went on to soundtrack many of the parties at WMC and beyond.

Today Rejected extend its reach deep into Summer ‘16 with a new brace of remixes, each giving a fresh take on the original. First up is Joris Voorn who initially stays true to the original. Relaxing the beat and bass pattern, the label boss allows the unmistakable synth melody to play us through to its mercury-rising break, before shaking things up with an additional final flourish of keys and strings.

Jesse Rose goes polar on the flip, as he reworks You Feel Alive into a heads-down warehouse slugger. His locked-tight bass groove is pierced by flashes of the original synth, rasping claps and flyby’s.

Whether it be baking on the terraces or stomping in the big tops, both mixes of You Feel Alive are set to be rocking your summer sound systems.

Kuukou has seen a whirlwind of releases since its inception and sets off its new series “Passengers”. Welcoming newcomers and virtuosos alike, the series brings together spellbinding tracks coming from various artists brought together by the same key element: straight-up techno. 

John Haden & Monococ kick off proceedings with “Volcano”, a track that’s quick and steady, setting the pace from the first bar. With a stripped down overall aesthetic, strong percussion takes centre stage, joined by a playful yet solemn melody.

“Canyon Voice”, an offering by Romanian electronic forerunner Horace Dan D., dives in swiftly with a heavy bassline and distorted chops. Distorted vocals add extra zest, while keeping the focus on the beat.

Overloque’s „Voodoo“ provides a dose of progressive techno vibes. With a solid pace and a dark undertone, it makes for a great slice of jagged rawness.

Frequency-hunter duo Jägerhertz deliver a morcel of high-energy techno. “Ikon” is fast paced and balances undulating synths with airy pads that are bound to set the floor on fire.

With a subdued ambiance and muted chords, newcomer Aetius Boutefoy with “Issho”, an aerial bit of deep tech. Avian sounds combined with tribal loops, married with wind instruments induce a sense of industrial-nature unison, creating a breezy atmosphere.
