It is Monday the 23rd of December 2013 and we have DJ Emerson back on the CLR Podcast with a generous two hours long live set from one of his recent gigs at CLR´s weekly “Disturbance” night at Arena Club in Berlin. In 2014 the long-time label artist and prolific producer will be releasing exciting new music, for example a remix for Michael Schwarz on Wall Music and an EP on Markantonio´s Analytic Trail imprint, including a remix by Flug. DJ Emerson stands for quality Techno with an extra portion of groove and has made himself an excellent name in the scene. After years of mainly working on coproductions, Andre Crom started to dive deep into solo studio work in november 2015, and since then has been pretty much obsessed with nothing else.

These tracks belong to the first results of these endeavours; more will soon follow.

The EP opens with "Jaunde", a detroit-influenced spacy cut, somewhere between techno and house. Building on the foundation of a solid Kick&Sub groove we are welcomed by a deep and hypnotic arp theme, wrapped into warm bass pads and a classic string. A perfect track for the later hours of a set.

"Ritus" is aimed more towards building tension, an energetic syncopated stab lead, demanding claps and a tight groove build towards an epic breakdown, before a warm pads gives resolve.

"Momentum" is clearly the peaktime cut of the package, built around driving percussions and an intense arp lead.

Charlotte De Witte, one of Belgium's most promising newcomers and known from several EP's on Turbo, makes her OFF debut with a remix of Jaunde, taking things into a more linear and darker direction.

Once in a while outstanding songs pop into our demo-inbox on Noir Music and we are blown away by the quality from first listen. Its not an easy task making “songs” work in an underground club enviroment but when they do its usually those songs that create the special moments in dj sets. Tone Depth and Matt Shapiro have created a unique vocal tune with “Halls Of White” that would work really well for the opening hours, afterhours or for a great closing-track moment.
Noir took on the remix task himself and created a primetime monster that sounds a little more aggressive and in your face than the original. Both versions work for each their moment in a dj-set. Hit play and find out which version suits your mood.

Dutch live-act and DJ duo Artefakt prepare their atmospheric debut album on renowned techno imprint Delsin this February.

Known separately as Robin Koek and Nick Lapien, the pair first appeared on Field Records before follow up releases on Prologue, Delsin and Konstrukt. Individually Nick has been making waves under his Lapien moniker, dropping productions via Fred P’s Soul People Music, Finale Sessions, Rekids and DVS1’s Mistress Recordings, whereas Koek’s intricate sound design work has been performed globally at the likes of Toronto, Viseu, New York, Ohio, Berlin and Amsterdam.

True to their distinct mesmerising aesthetic, the album commences with a suspenseful number named ‘Kinship’ that combines sweeping pads with ominous tones. Pattering drums introduce ‘Tapestry’ before ghostly notes are brought into the equation, leading into ‘Entering The City’ with its rumbling low-end and soaring harmonies.

Next, ‘Somatic Dreams’ initiates with stuttering stabs as distorted nuances operate throughout, making way for the chugging ‘Fernweh’ with its ethereal synths and sci-fi throbs. ‘Return To Reason’ then incorporates heady acid squelches and hypnotic tape delays before opulent chords conclude the package in an ambient finale titled ‘Tapeloop 1’.

Kinship portrays a compelling narrative in a body of work that will undoubtedly keep listeners engaged from start to finish.

Anyone who’s encountered Christopher Kah’s sounds over the years will know all too well that he’s a multi-talented multi-instrumentalist. 
A true innovator in his field, Kah is a man who takes great pride in ensuring his music is presented in a truly unique format. 
His latest endeavour is RE: SOURCE, a concept where “every track” he explains, “is created with minimum resources”. 
This all comes to light quite brilliantly via his latest, RE: SOURCE 01. Featuring four original tracks, the release also comes backed by four individual videos which demonstrate the producer’s grand knack for live production.

Kicking off matters is the sounds of ‘Blade’. 
Like much of this EP, it’s produced using the Roland TR-8S in conjunction with another of his weapons of choice, the Elektron Digitakt. 
A grandiose and foreboding track with shades of UR at its core, this is trippy techno of the type often emitted from the genre’s godfathers straight out of Detroit.

‘Machine’ is a raw, minimal cut that’s laced with acid from the get-go. Full of muffled vocal patterns, it’s a thoroughly uncompromising spectacle that never lets its guard down for a moment. 
A hypnotic track that’s most definitely suited to peak-time pastures, it’s sure to decimate any dancefloor its let loose on. 
‘Extent’ is next up. A track that ups the ante even further, it’s characterised by its big room capabilities and dramatic overtones. 
Like much of Kah’s best work, it’s not one for the faint of heart, and has already proved a highlight of the French producer’s much-loved live sets.

Culminating the release is the sounds of ‘Warcry’. A gnarly track that’s notable for its restless sheen, it’s full of tantalising claps, snares and a heaving, chugging vibe that ensures the release signs out amongst a general feeling of euphoria. 
A truly captivating release, Kah’s latest is sure to find favour with in-the-know techno heads especially.

It's still the season of longing and yearning, of nostalgia - laying rolled up on the sofa in front of your fire place and watching the freezing wind shake the branches on the trees outside. It's the season of deep grooves and desireful melodies. The second release on Jaw Dropping Records 2019 takes exactly this ambiance and transformed it into a four track EP - lead by no one else than Nico Pusch. You might know him from his various releases on imprints such as Lauter Unfug or Moonbootique or from one of his DJ sets throughout Germany and beyond. The title of his first ever Jaw Dropping EP resembles just this very ambiance. Zauber der Magie translates to Charm of Magic and it's title track serves what it promises. Zauber der Magie is a beautifully composed melodic deep house track that let's you close your eyes, hope for better times, and hold the person next to you close to your heart so that he or she can feel your breath whilst being caught by the Charm of Magic. We found three very unique remixers to work on Zauber der Magie. First off, we start with a special debut! Label boss Rachel Raw is premiering her first track on her baby label, that she has raised over the last few months and that has already been a huge success with the first release last month. Now she decided to show off her skills - she teamed up with buddy Ricardo Farhat from Brazil. Their remix is the hardest on this EP and complements the soft melodic tracks by the other artists perfectly. They made Zauber der Magie more powerful without losing its gentle and melodic touch.As to the second remix duo for Zauber der Magie: David Hasert and Francesco Mami usually work separately as artists but when it comes to music production they join forces and do their own magic. And that is exactly what they did for us: magic. Their remix is a stripped down almost muffled version of Nico Pusch's original that is the perfect addition to early morning sets and sunrise moments on the beach after a long night of dancing.In order to not leave us in too much of a melancholic mood, Nico also prepared a groovier and happier track for this EP. Love bursts with joy because of it's lovely melody and its fantastic vocal samples. It is the track that should have been included at every festival last year - well, it's going to be this year then. Probably in the same playlist as it's remix - brought to you by Luigi Gori and Frankye Lova. You know the latter from his Abfahrt radio shows and his release on Jaw Dropping's sister label Jannowitz Records. Luigi Gori has been in the scene for more than 20 years with hundreds of releases. It's a pleasure to have both of them on the imprint - with a much deeper version of Nico. Pusch's Love.
