THE SOUND OF TREES

We dedicate this session of the month, taking the opportunity of our two upcoming posts, to Ali Farka Toure, who represents the original desert blues sound from the north of Mali, as well as other masters west african guitar players as Boubacar Traore, follows by piece of Bill Frisell dedicated to him with his name, and Kante Manfila “lost album” from 1980 featuring Salif Keita. 

Close to the end, presenting a coming soon post dedicated to six-box set published by Ocora, the prestigious and historical label founded by Radio France for a musicologistic projects all around the world. On this time we travel to India with the very first historial session in 1967 between Ravi Shankar and Yehudi Menuhin. Two impressive ragas filling out our proposal. Enjoy it!

"Un viaje musical distinto", "a different musical journey"

Este en un espacio del blog Noiself.com basado en sesiones de música que aprecerán mensualmente. Además aquí se reúnen los programas de radio producidos y realizados por Jesús Gonzalo bajo el nombre de Simbolos entre los años 2000 y 2002 (selección aquí contenida). Podéis encontrar unos 35 repartidos en tres listas de reproducción: noiself world, noiself jazz, noiself new music. En ellas, a través de una cuidada selección y presentación de autores, puedes viajar durante 50 minutos por las músicas del mundo, el jazz-folk-blues-pop, la música contemporánea y otras combinaciones sin definir. Hay,  además, dos monográficos especiales dedicados al director de cine Akira Kurosawa y a Tom Waits.

Noiself es una idea de Jesús Gonzalo, especialista en jazz y músicas contemporánea y del mundo, con una extensa carrera como crítico musical en periódicos y como articulista y ensayista en revistas especializadas como Tomajazz, Cuadernos de Jazz, Jazzitis, Factor Crítico o Revista Raíces, entre otras publicaciones. En enero de 2016 forma parte de la prestigiosa revista de música clásica y contemporánea Scherzo.

Durante seis años dirigió el programa de radio SIMBOLOS que aquí reproducimos y ejerció como director general y artístico de muestras audiovisuales y festivales de jazz. Es programador, promotor de conciertos, agente internacional de músicos de  jazz y mánager del grupo MAP Mezquida-AurignacPrats que podéis encontrar aquí en soundcloud.

Noiself Radio Blog: "A different musical journey" (english)

This a Noiself blog`s new space based in a dj monthly session which will come on noiself.com and as well you can find different compilations gathering almost 35 radio programms produced and made by Jesus Gonzalo and broadcasted in a spanish radio station between 2000 and 2002 under the name Simbolos. You can listen in three different playlist: noiself  world, noiself  jazz, noiself  new music on which, throughout a compelling selection of artists and for 50 minutes, you can hear world musics, jazz-folk-blues-pop, early electro-acustic and post minimalist piooners, as well as two monographics dedicated to film director Akira Kurosawa and Tom Waits.
 
Noiself blog is a site about music and arts in spanish. Since October 2011, Noiself is updated several times in a week with records, books, concerts even films reviews, as well as articles, opinion essays and news.

Noiself is developed by Jesús Gonzalo, a specialist in jazz, contemporary and world musics with quite wide career as a music critic on newspapers and essayist on music and arts magazines like Tomajazz, Cuadernos de Jazz, Jazzitis, Factor Crítico o Revista Raíces. Since January 2016 features in the prestigious classical-contemporary music magazine Scherzo.  For six years he run his own radio station and he practised as a festival head manager, curator or artist director on video & sound electronic exhibitions and jazz festivals as well as programmer and promoter. 

In 2015 he founded the new sensation european jazz group called MAP, with Marco Mezquida, Ernesto Aurignac and Ramon Prats you can listen to here on soundcloud.
