It is one of Kusuma’s strong suits to produce tracks with a disco kit that go beyond the usual confines of the genre. Here’s a fine example of this. With latin percussion, arpeggios and several layers of melody, the robotic feel is still present but less so than on "Automatone". There's an element of darkness, as hinted by the track title, if they had discos in Tolkien’s universe, DJs would probably spin this.

Two years after the release of his acclaimed debut the “GONG 3000” EP on I’m a Cliché, Jakarta’s best kept secret is back on Cosmo Vitelli’s imprint with four terrific original tracks. Jonathan Kusuma is a producer who has managed in the space of a few releases and remixes to develop a signature sound which mostly relies on taking disco and EBM elements and putting them in new and unexpected contexts, offering us a glimpse of what modern dance music would sound like if house and techno had never existed.

Narcotic, hedonistic, abstract and particularly efficient on the dancefloor, Kusuma’s music is always about quality and never about quantity and so we are particularly thrilled to share with the world the four new tracks that constitute this EP.

je crois que pamplemousse c’est le morceau que j’ai pris le plus de plaisir à jouer pendant cette tournée,
il y avait de la liberté caliente, de la douceur, des silences suspendus, la fin des rimes susurrées et surtout des solos de synthé gogol rainbow
j’ai jamais appris à jouer du piano; pour retenir les accords que je compose, je dessine les octaves du clavier et je colorie les touches à jouer,
je fais ça depuis que j’ai 15 ans, c’est ce que j’ai trouvé de plus pratique pour me remémorer ce que je dois jouer, il m’est donc difficile de faire des solos,
parce que face au labyrinthe de notes anonymes, je panique, il n’y a que des erreurs possibles,
alors pour me la jouer jazz lors de ce moment coucher de soleil sous acid, je joue en majorité les touches noires.
J’ai fait un bout à bout d’une sélection de moments et ça donne un morceau tourbillon absurde que je voulais partager, je suis plein de gratitude au sortir de ce tunnel, comme dans un vertige pailleté
