“KILL THE CLOWN (ACT ONE) is the first part of Edith Backlund’s third album “KILL THE CLOWNS”. 
A lot has happened since we last heard from this Swedish singstress. Edith’s voice makes you think of Marianne Faithful and many of the arrangements are reminiscent of Morrissey and New Order. The sound is free but not fickle, happy but not cheery and the songs are dramatic but not over the top. The lyrics are either encouraging or descriptive and circle around breaking old habits, starting over and seeing the big picture however small the screen. Intimate verses and uncompromising choruses sneak in, hold you down and refuse to let go, finally leaving you with an unsettling craving for more.

Good things come to those who wait. “KILL THE CLOWN (ACT ONE) is released on November 18th 2011, “KILL THE CLOWN (ACT TWO) in February 2012  “KILL THE CLOWNS”, the album in its entirety in April 2012. Among the musical references are, previously mentioned artists excluded: Patti Smith, REM, Nancy Sinatra, Duke Special, Emiliana Torrini and Feist.
