Corey Stuart has been involved in the DnB scene since 1994. His involvement &nbsp;in the music evolved in 1997 when he met Mike Kenney and Nathan Curry, formerly of M.A.D. Bass Recordings. He quickly developed skills as a DJ of tech step styles, siting references such as Artifical Intelligence and Optical. He DJed heavily in the South FL Drum and Bass scene in the late 90's. His dabbling in the world of producing DnB tracks took on a serious tone around 2008 when, by the luck of fate, Nathan Curry's profession brought him to South FL. His efforts in learning musical theory and arrangement combined with a almost maniacal dedication to building a top notch home studio  has taken Corey's productions to a professional level. The icing-on-the-cake came in 2009 when he met Eddie Perez aka Mental Instrum.
Eddie Perez has a prestigious and long history in dance music. Releasing over a dozen jazzed-up house singles in the late 80's and early 90's, Eddie has a knack for dance music arrangements. In addition to being a seasoned keyboard player, Eddie has made a career as an audio post production engineer, doing mix downs and engineering.


Black Tar Prophet was formed in Nashville, Tennessee March 2011. Greg Swinehart. Tracking low-fi demos of heavy riffs in his living room. After some good feedback, Black Tar Prophet took it a step outside of living room jam sessions. Greg recorded their 1st LP, entitled “Note To Nod” released 6/12/12. This was 1- 42 minute track constructing all of the previous riffs written together into 1 track. Black Tar Prophet released “Note to Nod” (100cds). Greg tracked/mastered the album in his shed. Then booked a small tour threw the southern states. After the tour Mark left the band due to personal reasons. Greg immediately got on bass, and Erik Dever took over on drums. December 2012, Black Tar Prophet teamed up with (Atlanta Sludge) “Crawl”. They released (100 split cds) 12/8/12. Black Tar Prophet, with a stronger line up contributed 2 tracks, titled (Judgement Whore)(Hypomania). 
In 2013 Black Tar Prophet played 50-60 shows throughout the southern and midwest regions. Erik's insane drumming, along with Greg's monstrous low end fuzz, has added a lot to the project . April 2013 Trevor of Domestic Genocide Records offered to release their 2nd LP. While playing shows and raising the decibels, they ended up in Indianpolis, IN to track their 2nd LP entitled (DEAFEN) with Max Otworth (Lysura, Venality,). The album is intended to be raw. 9 tracks of structured drum accented powerful riffs. With being instrumental, getting straight to the point was the backbone of the album. Songs range from 2 minutes to 9 minutes. Extreme noisy fuzzed out distortion powered by Black Arts Toneworks custom built pedals. The album was recorded in Max's basement studio (Sonic Hex Recording Compound) September 14th -16th 2013. The name DEAFEN means what it says. Loud/ raw/ noisy/hatred with a big fuck you on top, no overproduced bullshit. Max tracked all of the songs live, with the same volume and power that BTP enforces on the crowd at any show. 2014 Black Tar Prophet continues booking regional midwest/southern/local shows. As well as constructing new material.
