Nu Guinea - Amore Delfonic Edit

Starting out in 1997 doing funky house and breaks as the @all-good-funk-alliance, the boys self-released there first release called the Fixation EP. Without proper distribution and knowledge of the industry the record sunk into obscurity, but they kept at it and were soon signed to several labels including Toko, Aroma, Hi-Phen, Maxi and Dadhouse. They had a couple of songs featured on several mix cds, and were really getting out there as producers. Around the year 2000 they started a label called Funk Weapons and started to take on a different sound, which incorporated more of a funk and breaks sound. Not wanting to abandon the house sound they came up with the B-Team alias for there funky house releases. The B-Team is about taking the house groove on step closer to the funky goodness that P-Funk, Rick James and Prince built.

This release was put out digitally 10 years ago - now remastered for Vinyl and out soon on @whiskeydisco

It was Memorial Day Weekend 2016, and the sun shined bright over the Detroit River. Pontchartrain stepped up to the decks at the Red Bull stage at Movement Electronic Music Festival donning his infamous "Detroit vs. Itself" t-shirt. His first song through the Rane rotary mixer was a dubplate made specifically for his set: “Afterlife”. It’s a brilliantly executed daytime disco rework that warrants the praise of summer anthem that it’s earning. 

On the flip is “Pool”, an equally sunny slomo beatdown rework from Blair French. It's a delightful blend of cerebral and soulful, and is finally getting a release after being originally championed by Peter Croce on his Le Mellotron Paris set back in early 2018. 

This 7" is pressed heavy and cut loud at 33.3 RPM with a normal non-dinked hole.

Ben Gomori delivers another two carefully-crafted reworks for Sterns Edits, both tried and tested to ensure maximum dancefloor impact.
Guinean guitar master Djessou Mory Kante's blistering style makes for propulsive dancefloor material when paired with a chunked-up house rhythm, with Gomori utilising the stems available to add subtle FX trickery to the intricate melodics of the original. The whole affair builds and rolls in incessant fashion, with another riveting bassline mirroring and counterbalancing the main motifs.
The wild sounds of Senagelese legends Orchestra Baobab's nine-minute-odyssey 'Sibou Odia' is a formidable piece of work that shows the band's stunning musicianship in fine style. With only the original track to work from and no stems, Gomori hones in on the sections where the groove is dominant and the raucous solos potently cut through. The skanking rhythms are intact, with a huge bassline pushing the proceedings forward throughout.

There's sun seeking balearic from long standing Sprechen supporter & Cowbell Radio host Ed Mahon with a beautiful piano led beatless bit of brilliance on A Brighter Day.

Newcomer Ivan Fabre drops an 80's neo-disco not disco chugger on Incursions...Sprechen newcomer Indigo Jung serves up a jacking soulful house number on For Real...Solid State goes for peak time heads down Global Underground style flavours on Tonite whilst firm Sprechen family member Dj Steevo goes right in for some straight up dance floor beckoning brilliance on Heroes Funk (which comes with an instrumental too!).

Oh and there's also some amazing & unique UK Garage style shenanigans from Norway by way of Trudee Note and 'Dreams Of Revenge...serious tackle.

Dou Van Jou est de ces disques mystérieux qui méritent d'être (re)découverts.

Enregistré en 1987, il fait entendre une fusion originale entre gwoka, musiques du monde, jazz et usage enthousiaste de synthétiseurs. Bien que diffusé de façon intimiste, certains morceaux ont acquis le statut d'oeuvre culte. C'est le cas de "Misik A Moun A Kaz", avec son rythme gwoka "mendé", ses pianos salsa et sa basse disco.

Stima est fier de ressortir officiellement cette oeuvre curieuse et surprenante de la scène gwoka parisienne : dansant, spirituel, indéniablement 80's et intemporel... pour preuve, le titre a été joué par Antal ou Emil Omar dernièrement.
