Following his 2022 ‘Natural Selection’ EP and music on Comma Trax, Troubleshoot Recordings, and Draconian Audio, Scaefa returns to La bonne musique with three nostalgic club cuts. The London party and label has built a roster of talent comprised of artists like Sempra, Small Crab and Akumen, with a catalogue of quality rave music spanning techno, bass, and breaks. “I spent a lot of time listening to 90s trance and UK jungle/hardcore pirate radio mixes whilst making these tunes, and the result is an amalgam of breaks/techno/trance and ambient moments. This project is nostalgic musically and emotionally, with the tracks made in a period of my life spent looking back/reflecting on the past. I find the music to be both euphoric and melancholic at times.” - Scaefa ‘Symbiosis’ opens up Scaefa’s ‘Ambrosia’ EP with mysterious swirling synths, anticipation building before culminating into a racy Reese bass finish, this is before ‘Locate’ continues with more breakbeats which carefully carve and slice their way through rich melodies and vibrant stabs. 

The title track is up next, pads swelling in the background as pitched-up vocals and a subtle 303 complement its fast-paced jungle drums. La bonne musique co-founder n_o, formerly known as bad internet, closes out the release, turning ‘Locate’ into a retro acid techno and house hybrid complete with exhilarating stabs and organic rhythm.

The Oyster Cult’s Naarm continent grows larger with the addition of Ebbs N Flow. The unholy alliance of Dashiell and Will Holden of Hybrid Man touching down with some precision-tooled tech house variants, and considering their only previous collab came on an Animalia compilation back in 2022, this has been long in the making. 

OYSTER56 marks the first full release from this lesser spotted project. The handiwork of two producers, both accomplished in their own right but transcending their respective styles for a 4-track dose of late nite propulsion. Seductively stripped-back and engineered for optimum impact. 

Flexing a deftness of touch, and a far cry from the smudged, dubby FX Holden tends to deploy under the Hybrid Man banner, these tracks set the duo’s stall out as purveyors of the nocturnal and club-ready. Sultry, sleek, and sumptuous like only the dankest cuts can sound. 

It’s fitting that a track with the title 'Deeper Dream' might feature on a release feeling like a transmission from the other side; a parallel dimension where the after-hours never end.

Back in the early 90's Dave Coker, Justin Bailey and Laurant Webb set up a music production studio a stones throw away from the famous Cutty Sark in Greenwich, along with Dave " Deptford " Pine as one the founders of the aforementioned studio. They called themselves Strangeweather, worked on different dance music styles and formed the fabulously awesome, but slightly ill fated band Wubble U. Around the same time Justin struck up a friendship with Nathan Coles, a then madly enthusiastic young DJ who was starting to make a name for himself on the thriving underground house scene. Nathan introduced Justin to Terry Francis and the rest of the crew and collectively the formed Housey Doingz. They released two records on the Bush subsidiary imprint Green Grass and as if by magic tech house was officially born.

Fast forward a couple of years and the boys replaced the 's' with a 'z' and struck out on their own. This is a re-release of the first record on the label they named after the now legendary club night Wiggle. Two sides of proper, UK style tech house - a sound that's been copied, plagiarized and endlessly imitated. But never bettered.
