Irene Von Dorigotti – La crociera della Tuonante

Irene Von Dorigotti works in writing novels, filmmaking and video art.
Her research areas include sensory perception, time, spirituality, urban anthropology, imaginaries and experimental methods, Radical Aesthetics and Ethnographic Practice.
She was part of the artists' collective of cavallerizza reale in Turin.
Irene is a traveler.
This journey began as a research, an exploration across four continents, the fieldrecording as a practice to connect with the world to represent the other.
Each song is a precise moment, a memory, an instant, traces of moments of happiness and reflection.
Some come from vinyls bought and then lost, others are pieces stolen from playlists of bazaars at the blue mosque, others are from people who knew how to make me feel good.
You have to dive into the water to be light and float to start this journey.

The Ecuadorian @Quixosis, aka Daniel Lofredo Rota, releases a mixtape with Nómade which shapes a worldview in and of itself. It’s a personal, essential, and musical journey. It’s especially soft, slow, and contemplative. It’s a sound that accompanies you in your own reflection, giving space to space, and destroying for good the sound barrier.

Nobody rushes you, nobody chases you into the jungle, and the music which Quixosis builds for you is so much like your own being, organic like thought and breath. It’s a consonant and natural electronic with a harmonious flow that is without falter.

It’s a mixtape rooted in an origin that maintains a magnetism towards its home in Ecuador. It teeters like a stubborn monkey balancing, without falling, towards both poles of the earth. The mixtape takes the essence from our Latin American identity and brings it to the synthesizers of Europe, generating a blend that today is strong and binds us together while defying gravity.

El ecuatoriano Quixosis aka Daniel Lofredo Rota, levanta para Nómade un mixtape que configura en sí mismo su cosmovisión. Un viaje personal, esencial, musical y particularmente suave, lento y contemplativo. Un sonido que te acompaña en tu propia reflexión, dando espacio al espacio, matando definitivamente la barrera del tiempo. 

Nadie te apura, nadie te persigue dentro de la selva y la música construidas por Quixosis, son tan tuyas como tú mismo, tan orgánicas como los pensamientos y la respiración. Una progresión  electrónica análoga, natural, con un fluir armónico y sin tropiezos. 

Un mixtape enraizado a los orígenes, que mantiene un magnetismo regional propio del Ecuador y que se tambalea como monito porfiado hacia ambos polos de la tierra sin caerse. Tomando extractos de nuestra Latinoamérica identitaria para llevarlos a una Europa de sintetizadores y generar este sonido metizo que hoy toma fuerza y nos mantiene unidos, desafiando la gravedad.

“The concept behind this mix was improvised productions around the teme of transitions and all at 80BPM. This is music inspired by transitions, moving between cultures and countries and equally music moving between rhythms and melodies – inspired by my own move from Mexico City to Paris. Rain pounds on the tin roof, wind rattles against the lodge like the tail of an enchanted snake being charmed by a flautist wizard. I'm up 3000 m above sea, on the edge of a volcano. Isolated. Not a soul in sight. There's some kinda madness in the air & I love it. 

I believe a journey of this magnitude, is by it's very nature, a revolt against the test of time. It calls for an intimate relationship that wants to be nurtured. Many listens will reveal hidden gems yet to be discovered. Like fine wine, it gets better with time. 

The rocket ship revs up slowly.
