Découverts en 2008 aprés leur premier maxi “Don't Panic” sorti chez l'hyperactif label lyonnais Gourmet recordingz, WAT impose un style sans concession où electro et distorsion font saigner les oreilles. En utilisant les guitares comme des claviers et vice-versa leur son est gras, et projette des ondes hurlantes et de la sueur digitale là où il résonne.

Relayés dans un premier temps par de nombreux blogs, puis par la presse spécialisée, les tracks du groupe se retrouvent rapidement sélectionnés dans de nombreuses compilations (Ever Better chez EMI, sampleur Trax, French Attack chez Idol...) et playlistés par dj et radios.

Les WAT continuent dans la foulée à faire parler en sortant chez Boxon “Don't Panic Remixes EP” où ils invitent plusieurs artistes émergeants de la nouvelle scène electro française à remixer les titres de leur premier EP pour un résultat trés dancefloor.

WAT réalise également plusieurs remixes pour Revolte, Make The Girl Dance, Cyberpunkers et No Kiss With Gloss.

En 2010, le groupe remet le couvert avec avec deux nouveaux EP : "UU80" chez Absolut Freak Records aux accents electro-hiphop et "Try Before Buy" chez Motivo, un disque plus rock. Ces deux nouvelles sorties marquent un nouvel élan artistique avec une production plus léchée et des compositions plus pop. On y retrouve un featuring de CS Rucker, rappeur américain d'Albuquerque, ainsi que des remix de Daroc, Aylak, We Are Enfant Terrible et Nicolas Chenard.

Il est aujourd'hui difficile de cataloguer leur musique... Si l'on doit tout de même s'y risquer, on pourrait dire qu'il s'agit d' electro-newwave-discoteca-withahiphoptwist....

La réponse à cette question sera sans doute apportée par la sortie de leur premier album “WONDER” en Septembre 2010 chez Boxon Records. Wonder est une odyssée electro-rock, mélange de 20 ans d'influences musicales. Wonder est un album qui s'écoute autant bien qu'il se danse.

En live, le groupe propose un set électro-rock aux accents hip-hop et aux mélodies percutantes. Claviers, guitare, batterie, chant, ils insufflent une puissance rock à leur univers électronique. Sélectionné par le Réseau Printemps de Bourges pour les découvertes Il-de-France, tournant régulièrement sur de gros plateaux en France ou en Suisse, le groupe a développé véritable une puissance de feu scénique.

WAT is born where Moroder meets RATM.

Recording dirty songs in caves somewhere in France between Paris and Lyon, WAT is a screaming wave, a digital sweat, a dynamite sound.

Using keyboards as guitars and guitars as keyboards, it feels like fire and ice.

After two noticeable EPs in 2008, WAT is coming back with a new one « UU80 » on the french parisian label Absolut Freak Records, and another one « Try Before Buy » on Motivo.

Taking into consideration those last releases, it's even harder to classify their music... If we had to risk it, we would have to say that they are playing a kind of « positive electrorock, new wave discoteca, with a hip-hop twist »… (To be short).

In live, the band offers us a set with keyboards, guitars, drum kits, and vocals… Their rock power and energy on stage are always linked to the electronic universe.

More pragmatically, WAT is a big smile on your face, or a big punch on your head. Their first album "Wonder" is planned for the year 2010 on Boxon Records.
