Hannah D - The Gaso - Pop-Up Spring Event 2022

La Rama is back on wax with two original compositions from local producer/DJ Rig Thrall. We first linked up with the Rakya crew member at the shop and soon after released his music on a limited run 10” named ‘Exit 19’ via our La Rama Dubs sub label. We kept in touch, and when an assortment of unreleased material caught our ears, we quickly jumped on the opportunity to get working on this 4th record on our label.

‘Broken Guru’ drones and grooves you through the cavernous depths, out in to the open, where the clouds part and a voice reaffirms that you are on the right path. From here we dive back into the depths, with the full confidence that this is the right path.

Thanks to two Roman legends, we have variations on the theme of ‘Broken Guru’. Marco Passarani delivers the masterful hyper dance floor club dub with his many years of experience clearly on display… play it out and you will see that this is some kind of sorcery. In speaking of magic, we are honoured to have the one and only Lory D serve us up a bass heavy re-interpretation, recorded in one pass through his live rig and edited to perfection.

‘Acidly Dose’ is the second original from Rig Thrall, an acid infused beat of the highest order with all the necessary elements to give the room a communal high.

From its conception, I've strived to make TerraFirm embody the characteristics of the futurist's ideal ecosystem. In real and simple terms this meant assembling a group of connected, like-minded producers whose music re-envisioned the utopian future upon which Techno was built. This future transcends aesthetic fantasy, connecting our dystopian Earthly reality to a harmonious, interconnected and equitable future.

HOLOBIONT is the full and final realization of TerraFirm's mission and I can't imagine a better concept to bring this endeavor to a close. A holobiont (Latin: "the whole of life") is any collection of species that creates a complex ecosystem through symbiotic interactions. Holobionts exist on all scales of being, from the microscopic to the universal. Organelles combine to form the cellular holobiont; 30 trillion human cells and 38 trillion bacteria form the human holobiont; 9 million species, 11 biomes and an electromagnetic rock form the holobiont Earth and so on all the way up the cosmic scale.

This compilation is the coming together of a dozen artists for the common cause of raising money in the hopes of easing the suffering of our fellow humans in Gaza. The label was never meant to end this way but there couldn't be a more fitting finale.

5 track downtempo Balearic house EP by Ex Spiral tribe member Lol Hammond's studio project Wah Wah Planet from 1990 along side Russell Crone featuring female vocals by Lucy Sian. Serving as a pioneering early example of UK Street Soul. A side explores the romantic theme brought to the table by the lyrics in a more pop/radio edit oriented manner whereas the B-side takes things down a more leftfield route with 3 different excursions in early 90's smooth Balearics ranging from early breaky/triphop nuances to elements borrowing from dancehall music. Including a previously unreleased mix found deep in Lol's master tapes.

London based label UZ MI Records returns in 2021 with a four track VA featuring Yallahs, solo contributions from label bosses Rick Silver & James Vernon and their Money House Club guise. Rick Silver & James Vernon’s fairly young but highly promising label has been releasing the highest standard of stripped back and stylish, dubbed-out sonics and have carved out a little section for themselves in the electronic music scene after honing a dynamic and appealing production style. Previous releases from the two label bosses and enigmatic artist Yallahs have captured the attention from various established names and they continue to show their flair for all things raw and exciting on their ‘Stories, Chapter One’ release. Money House Club’s ‘Fish Slap’ kicks things off with swirling, electro-tinged drums, stabbing acid synths with heart-warming leads underneath whilst Rick Silver delivers his ‘My Corona’ next as the hypnotic deepness pulsates wonderfully in harmony with the organic percussion and delicate melodies. On the flip, Yallahs lays down a punchy techno groover entitled ‘One Leg’, punchy kicks fuse with the dubby textures and oscillating vibrations capturing and keeping you locked throughout before James Vernon’s ‘Web Flight’ rounds off the EP with rough-edged modulations, looping rhythms and haunting pads that spiral in and out of focus with pure eccentricity.
