NO OMEGA announces their brand new EP “Occupants” with an April 2015 release date.

“If the music is loud we won’t hear the sound of the world falling apart.” This protrusive state of mind is exactly how Stockholm, Sweden’s NO OMEGA express their bleak brand of modern hardcore. It’s no secret that every corner of the world has their own black cloud looming over their inhabitants, leaving no short of topics to educate unfamiliar parties with. 

No Omega have been bearing this torch since 2010, playing over 300 shows. With the dynamics of their sound they have shared the stage with bands of all genres including Parkway Drive, Touche Amore, Pianos Become The Teeth, and Full of Hell. During their existence they have released various 7”s and 2 LPs including their most recent, Shame. Their sophomore effort “Shame” was released on Throatruiner Records (Birds in Row, Primitive Man, Bone Dance) to critical acclaim, selling out of the first pressing in a matter of months. They would then expand their reach to the rest of Europe, USA, Mexico, Russia, and Ukraine, capping it off with their 200th show at Ieper Fest in Belguim. After this run both vocalist, Andreas, and drummer Victor, left the band to pursue other endeavors. 

Undergoing a needed line up change, Oscar, who was originally the guitar player moved to vocals, and Daniel went to guitar. This gave No Omega a bright outlook on their future. Earlier this year the band embarked on a full european tour with Deathwish Inc. powerhouses Touche Amore, and Birds in Row. Later that summer they would complete another full european tour with Swain, formerly-known-as This Routine Is Hell, finishing the run off with a second appearance at the beloved Fluff Fest. With a couple tours under the newly tuned line up, the band hit the studio to record their follow up to the 2013 effort “Shame”. “Occupants” was recorded with Fred Hunger at Fvck Life Studios in Trollhattan, Sweden. It was then mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege Engineering (From Ashes Rise, Nails, Sleep). 

Occupants seems to pick up right where they left off with a refreshing take on a sound they’ve crafted since their inception. They’ve allowed elements of melodic hardcore similar to the style that The Carrier and Killing the Dream perfected in the mid 2000’s to really showcase their guitar work. The vocals are harsh and grim, laid out in a powerful delivery that really lets you feel the urgency of this EP. The rhythm section consisting of the drums and bass are thick and prominent, letting you feel every hit. There is an overlaying haze bringing out the space and ambiance of the room it was recorded in, allowing that gloomy sound to really shine through. If a record could capture the feeling of hopeless with nowhere to go and the inevitable end impending, Occupants definitely takes on the challenge of achieving that. 

“Occupants” will hit the streets late April 2015 via Dog Knights Productions (Gnarwolves, Nai Harvest, Old Gray) and Protagonist Music (Suis La Lune, Algernon Cadwallader, This Gift Is A Curse) on both the CD/LP variants.
