For their 22nd release, NastyFunk Records turn to Rio De Janeiro producers, Toucan, for a huge helping of electronic funk. Having already remixed for the imprint, Toucan's return to the label showcases the versatility of the Brazilian duo, and their breakbeat smothered house number, ‘Back It Up’ is as nasty as they come.

Remixing the track, Patrick Podage (Noir, Circle Music) fuses elements of deep house and techno in his sophisticated edit, marking his debut appearance for the label. Full of groove and class, this rework is a true testament to the producer’s huge success recently across the house hemisphere and a perfect compliment to the original.

The third entry, ‘Way Home’, finishes the release in style with it’s loose grooves and carefree vibes; rounding off a tasty EP.

Building on the massive successes the duo have already had this year, Brighton duo My Digital Enemy are back with their new track 'Bassline Soundz' released through Zulu on 18th August.  

Proving their ability to cross the lines within the sub genres of House music, ‘Bassline Soundz’ is a tech house masterpiece combining an edgy beat with a dark and heavy vocal sample. 

My Digital Enemy, aka Serg and Kieron have so far smashed it in 2014. January saw ‘Shamen’, receive support from industry heads Pete Tong, Steve Angello & Danny Howard as well as featuring on Tiësto’s Clublife Afterhours Essential Mix, with further releases gaining similarly high acclaim.

Their previous single, ‘Don’t Give Up’ released in June is currently sitting at number 13 in the main Beatport chart while ‘Desire Life’ received a major label release as part of Universal Music Australia and featured as the title of their recent tour down under. 

As producers in 2013 they managed to notch up an impressive five Beatport House top ten tracks. Three of those in the top three spot, with their original track 'Wrong' hitting number one and staying there for six weeks.

With their productions continually in demand, a series of releases on high profile labels such as Toolroom, X Recordings and their own Zulu & Vudu records, as well as a busy DJ schedule that sees them playing amongst others, Toolroom Knights in Ibiza, My Digital Enemy are set for great things in 2014.'

In the past few years ‘Amine Edge & DANCE’ & ‘Tough Love’ have set stable foundations in their respective careers. Featuring Get Twisted Records artist Nastaly, “Heels In A House Rave” is a track inspired by the UK house scene that has served both duo’s so well. Fast paced from start to finish, with ear candy throughout, the urge to dance to this track is immense.

In typical fashion the French duo produce an original that typifies there sound in ‘The Eight, The O, The Mother Fuckin Eight’. If big booty were a genre this would be it. 

Tough Love have approached the remix of ‘The Eight, The O, The Mother Fuckin Eight’ in a lighter fashion, offering a more soulful twist to the track, perfect for a beach or terrace party.

A word from Sweat It Out on the track:

This one is pretty hard to write, but at the same time, it has what I would like to think, a good ending.

I have known young Benson for quite a while, but not as long as the late and great AJAX. It turns out, they met one night in Terrigal way back in 2008. Jax was the superstar guest dj and Benson, the local guy with a demo. But better than just giving his demo to Jax, he got a lift home with him. The ride was full of advice and tips, tips Benson took on board to the fullest extent.

Fast forward a few years, and Jax had been playing some (now Melbourne based) Benson bootlegs but hand't put 2 and 2 together that it was the same Benson from Terrigal. This led to some Sweat (Jaxxy) commissioned remixes for the young boy and in a huge nod to Benson's development, the guys collabbed on a remix of Yolanda Be Cool's Love Keeps.

AJAX was famous for recognizing talent early and 6 years after giving Benson a lift home, I feel he would be very, very stoked to be releasing a Benson original on his imprint.

And Benson should be proud of Hot Mess. It's wonky. It's swampy. And yet somehow, kinda poppy. And Lex Famous kills it on vox.

AND we got remixes. YBC pitch a house in the tropics, Dom Dollar adds his charm (banging as it may be hip) and Jad & The Ladyboy ensure that the cool(est) kids are happy too.

Londoner John Monkman has an impressive musical CV, having worked with legends like Pete Tong and Bryan Ferry in the past. His Anjunadeep debut, “Open Frontier” follows acclaimed releases on Get Physical and Suara and features gorgeous vocals from long-time collaborator Liz Cass.

Full of atmosphere, “Open Frontier” is a deceptively languid affair, with Liz’s effortless vocals drifting above a beautiful chugging groove packed full of heady, melancholic melodies. Assured vocoder work adds a leftfield touch, whilst the sparingly used low-end packs a real punch.

Bristolian up-and-comers Behling & Simpson have been on our radar for some time, with some cracking releases on Futureboogie, Exploited and 2020 Vision catching our attention. They deliver two killer mixes of John’s original, a sprawling, almost epic ‘Deep Mix’ and a ‘Club Dub, that ups the energy whist maintaining the trippy vibe captured in the deeper version.
