The online community has evolved from crowdfunding artistic projects and philanthropic necessities to a third category that sits somewhere in between funding your friend’s cool indie album and a round of life-saving chemo for a child. Jessica Melcher and her husband joined a growing trend when they began accepting online donations for a costly in vitro fertilization pregnancy.

Hello, I'm Nora! I'm an audio storyteller. 

I’ve reported and produced audio stories for Slate Studios, Atlantic Public Media, WCAI (NPR member station), HumaNature Podcast (Wyoming Public Media), and Interlochen Public Radio. My stories have led me to all kinds of places—down online rabbit holes to explore the intersection of technology and fertility, up the Scottish highlands on a mountain bike, and to the carpet of a public library to talk with kids about literacy. 

I have a post-graduate certificate in Radio & Podcasting from the Salt Institute for Documentary Studies and an honours degree in English from the University of Toronto. My work is equally informed by my experiences as an improv comedy actor and instructor, a farmhand, and an HR professional.
