"Live at five" on Cork city community radio with canine behavior experts Catherine Griffin, founder of 'Snout and About' and Veterinary Behaviourist Erin Cooper Fernandes.
Erin Cooper Fernandes is based at Sunbeam Veterinary Hospital on the Kinsale Road Cork. As well as her primary qualifications as a veterinarian she also has a Master's in behavior. 

Catherine, the founder of Snout & About, is a certified and accredited Canine Behaviour Consultant with the International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants. She studied with the renowned Dr Emily Blackwell at Bristol University and is a former training and behavior advisor for Dogs Trust, Catherine has over 15 year's experience in the industry.
We discussed the role of pain in relation to behavior and what we can do about it. We also debunked some of the myths regarding pain and behavior medication and the benefits of pain and behavior meds for some dogs.

A couple of weeks ago, I was at the washing machines in the garage with my rugs. While i was waiting for my wash to finish, I went and did some shopping and when I returned, a camper van had pulled in. 
My nose got the better of me, so I went over and introduced myself. 
The van is owned by Jorge Mos and Erica González Mouriño who share the space with  their two amazing dogs, Baloo and Africa.  
Erica and Jorge invited me for tea and we had the loveliest chat about life, running their own small businesses' and living a sustainable life with their dogs in a motorhome.
I am genuinely so inspired by these young people and want to thank them for taking the time to talk to me.

Zoe-Louise, a prominent figure in the greyhound rescue community,  talks about the challenges and solutions related to the high volume of greyhounds in rescue shelters, primarily due to the large-scale breeding industry. She also addresses the issues surrounding the Irish greyhound racing industry and suggests removing the gambling element from greyhound racing to address overbreeding and doping issues.

Fiachra Ó Cinnéide is the owner of the venue, The Richmond Revival and tells us about his motivation, the house and his vision for the future.

C'mere To Me With Noreen Murphy Éistradio

This was recorded live in St Luke's at the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival 2024. It's traditional Irish music interpreted on guitar and drums by Eoin Stan O'Sullivan and Shane Murphy. The name of the track is a tongue in cheek attempt to categorise this music - after someone said it was like Desert Blues. 
The piece is based on three reels: Within a Mile of Dublin / Johnny Allen's / Tom Billy's

Do You Know Bog Jazz? [Edit]

The next instalment of Bog Jazz from Stan & Shane.
It's based on two wild jigs: The Ducks in the Oats and another called I'll Never Wean Her (?). The first is associated with the famous fiddler Julia Clifford, and the second with Molly Myers Murphy.

It was recorded in St Luke’s — again — and mixed and mastered at Abbeyfeale Road Studios, Newmarket — again.

I  travelled to Kinsale to meet bookseller Simon Prim and his guests, John Robb and Richard Jobson, who were performing a spoken-word event in Prim's Bookshop.

John  Robb is an English musician, author, music journalist, and media commentator. He is best known as the bassist and vocalist for the post-punk band The Membranes and as the frontman of the punk rock group Goldblade.

John Robb is the founder, editor, and writer for the Louder Than War website and its accompanying monthly magazine. In addition to his journalism, he has authored several books on music and frequently appears in the media as a cultural and music commentator.

In 2014, he founded the Louder Than Words Festival, an annual celebration of music writing held in Manchester every November, where he continues to serve as executive director. Robb is also a TEDx speaker and a spoken word performer.

Richard Jobson is a Scottish musician, poet, filmmaker, writer, and producer, as well as a television presenter. He first gained recognition as the singer and songwriter for the punk and post-punk band Skids.

Simon Prim is the visionary behind Prim's Bookshop Bibliotherapy in Kinsale. A bookshop by day that morphs into a wine bar and cultural space in the evening. Originally from Youghal, Simon now calls Kinsale home."

The East Cork Songwriting Group is a beautiful community of creatives and musicians who meet regularly in Cobh, Co Cork. 
Founded by Eavan O'Leary and Yvonne Redmond, the group is a safe, supportive, collaborative  place.
