This little theme was based on the idea of Thomas' first time on his branchline. His naive attitude and cockiness towards Annie and Clarabel and hasteful speed when racing down the line. I finished this today and am most happy with the way it sounds. A piano/orchestra arrangement of Edward's theme, with some excerpts from Mozart's "Piano Sonata No. 16." --which is a piece of music I find Edward's theme to be very similar to.
Mike O'Donnell once said that Mozart was a considerable inspiration on the classic series Thomas music, and the piccolo trumpet led Edward's theme is no exception. 
Edward's theme lends itself very well to a classical style orchestration, as do many of the other themes.
