Inhmost - That Feeling (Preview)

When label boss Nick Warren first heard Inhmost's 2015 album "Dragbacks on Dockeiler Beach" it became an instant favourite of his. So it was only natural when Nick started his The Soundgarden label for one of his first choices for a release to come from Inhmost.

Inhmost is Simon Huxtable from Aural Imbalance fame. On this release he gives us 3 wonderful chilled compositions filled with ambient bliss. Alongside the originals are 3 hand picked remixes from Anton Dhouran and Oona Dahl, who both deliver remixes of "Dream Oscillator". Dhouran delivers a more breaks-influenced remix, while Swedish-born Oona Dahl takes the track into more of a driving house capacity, with huge layers of gliding synth arpeggios. Lastly, Nitemoves remixes "That Feeling" into a swirling symphony of Electronica.

All in all, another exciting and forward thinking release from a label which continues to push it's boundaries and with many more releases in the pipeline, The Soundgarden is a label to keep a very close eye on.

Inspired by the discovery of the ruins of Atlantis at Bimini in the Bahamas, Moon Boots’ sophomore album Bimini Road is a joyous listen that combines elements of soulful & melodic house, disco, and R&B. I experimented with lots of new styles and sounds but kept it grounded in what I do best. It’s an album with lots of dancefloor moments, and a lot of heart.’
Moon Boots’ debut album First Landing was a rare slow burn in today’s disposable music culture, steadily amassing a broad international following and an impressive 35 million streams since its release in August 2017. Praised by Mixmag for its ‘deep textures and funky melodies,’ First Landing has become a contemporary electronic masterpiece with support from Jason Bentley (KCRW) and Annie Mac (BBC Radio 1).
With Bimini Road, Moon Boots has brought back collaborators from both his debut album and his ambitious 7-person live show. Black Gatsby (“Power”), Nic Hanson (‘Keep The Faith’), and KONA (‘Fortune Teller’) all make appearances that help to make Bimini Road Moon Boots’ most compelling musical statement to date. Ross Clark (St Lucia) contributes guitar to three of the album’s hookiest and most affecting tracks. Moon Boots’ eagerness to bring melody and songcraft to unpredictable-but-accessible club grooves make him stand out in a crowded field of beatmakers and careerists.
The album also features new collaborators, including Little Boots, whose song ‘You Won’t See Me Cry’ carries echoes of Blondie, ABBA and Giorgio Moroder. LA-based pop chanteuse Niia, next-generation house diva Kaleena Zanders, and Gary Saxby of the Harlem Gospel Choir round out the list of guest vocalists.
Born in Brooklyn, Moon Boots gravitated toward music at an early age, spending many years playing piano, keyboards, and synthesizers before he ever made a beat. Inspired by legends like Frankie Knuckles, Derrick Carter and Paul Johnson, he moved to the home of house music, Chicago, where he played synth in an indie band and worked as a local DJ before aligning with the legendary French Express label for his earliest releases. Eventually signed to taste-making UK label Anjunadeep, Moon Boots has always stayed true to his mission of making infectious music that transcends genre. Songs not just for DJs and dance-floors, but for everyone.

Coming straight from the streets of Brooklyn / New York City is Rao, an electronic artist and producer on the rise but defo not a fresh face in the music industry at all. Formerly prone to heavy guitar based music as a member of several Metal band outfits and touring all across the United States Rao has taken a full on turn and is now ready to transform regular dancefloors into proper melodic hugpits of joy with his „Sun Gate EP".

The opening title cut „Sun Gate" sees Rao in full effect, starting out with a stretched, uplifting build up sequence and ever present, moving mid range synths in continuous interplay with tender melodic pads and patches, bringing forth a thought out balance of tension and relief, accompanied by a certain mystique whilst interestingly avoiding any potential climax before giving way to the next tune in the mix.

With „Sprinkles" Rao caters more of a deep melodic feel on a distinct TechHouse foundation, introducing layers upon layers of soft, blurry and dubbed out pads for a start before a stripped down main signal, all embracing organic groove and tender, yet slight aggressive and off-kilter midrange modulations add a slightly technoid counterpart element to the tunes all embracing friendliness.

Finally „Fallen Arches" explores outworldly terrain unfolding atop Rao's trademark sculpted TechHouse drums. Whipping percussive elements in the background, gated snares and hi-hats as well as a driving, synth bass are the basic structural elements on which ever moving strings and pads unfold, move and intertwine, bringing on an iridescent memory of beautiful sunrises, early morning sunrise Trance as well as everlasting love and world peace.

Northcape is a British producer making chilled and melodic electronica with elements of IDM, ambient and other genres. Albums have been released through US independent label Sun Sea Sky Productions including 2010s "Captured From Static" and 2013s "Exploration and Ascent", the latest EP "Glasshouse" was out in 2014.  The music is made in a very intuitive way, inspired by landscape, nature and memory. Northcape has evolved a distinct and recognisable style which may appeal to fans of acts such as Boards of Canada and Ulrich Schnauss.
