This was the first song I wrote in full since high school. I’d been making up melodies and trying to figure out how to produce some shitty backing tracks on GarageBand when I decided to have a look back on an old friend’s social media.

They were someone I was simultaneously inspired by and jealous of due to their own commitment to music — something I hadn’t been able to achieve yet. But once I spotted a post they’d shared about a severe illness they’d been diagnosed with, everything other than our lost friendship melted out of my mind.
