Sound Transitions is elated to bring you a hefty slab of rapid fire electro and techno goodness from none other than DJ Panthr (AKA Akasha Systems). Source Drift EP is scheduled for release on January 27 and we couldn't be happier. With its three deep originals backed with three inventive remixes from heavy hitters Roaming Data, Deeprhythms, and Alien House, this is an EP that will absolutely stand the test of time and find a welcome home on any dance floor.

DJ Panthr takes you on a journey from otherworldly electro to emotive, pad-filled techno to deep, spacious house. The remixers turn the already excellent originals into something wildly new and different. Roaming Data ups the tempo of the title track while still keeping things razor sharp. Deeprhythms sets the mood with a wavy, eyes closed, hands in the air blast of euphoria while Alien House melts things down to a smooth outsider house interpretation of "Liquid Light."

There is something for everybody across the six tracks presented here. The personalities and flavors of the producers all shine through while still maintaining a cohesive feeling throughout. It is not to be missed.

[PREMIERE] DJ SIMLOCKED - Data Jit

From her window she watched the darkness drive out the sunshine, making way for a blanket of stars and a glowing full moon. This was her favourite time of the day; to her twilight always felt magical and otherworldly. This evening the sky was painted in vibrant shades of red, orange and yellow - it was as though somebody way up above the clouds had taken a torch and set fire to it, and now it was engulfed in roaring flames which could never be extinguished. 

DISSOLUTE bring on board Brazilian producer LAZA for a new EP following releases from Pablo Diskko and No_4mat. Described as "an invitation to dance", the release fuses influences from the electronic music scene in his home with strains of Grime, DnB, Brazilian, Brega and Arrocha Funk, ambient and experimental. Dark, hypnotising and full of textural sound design and crisp beats, LAZA pays homage to places in Brazil, including his hometown, Jataí, "the city of bees" and places in the state of Goiás.

Taken from the first VA on TT label since 2014, the enigmatic Berlin producer offers a fiercely forward-facing take on FDM.

The water felt solid like earth beneath his feet as the distance grew between his body and the shore. The horizon seemed concrete to him and he christened it his destination, not stopping until his lips could kiss the sky and ocean's joining. The water caressed his feet, and flirted with the lower half of his legs. His mind was occupied by feeling, not thought. He breathed in the air. The air breathed him.

This track is one of two contributions by bambinodj to the 'Performance Enhancers' VA, compiled by the label co-run by DJ Pitch and Kast.  Released as a single last month, 'lost riddim' is difficult to decipher. So close, yet somehow so distant to the stylistic tropes commonly associated with the dancehall genre, a suggestion of spectral vocals float above razor-sharp percussion in an exploration of space and depth.

'august FDM' sees bambinodj pursue this endeavour. In a way that departs from the standard tropes of FDM (AKA Flex Dance Music, a dark, bass-heavy genre hailing from Brooklyn) Dancehall vocals are subordinated to genre-defining laser-like blips that dominate the track before being swept up by blissed-out arpeggios. Strange and dreamy.

Get your milk at the ready, Maoupa Mazzocchetti is back with another batch of dextrose-saturated experiments.

With Maoupa, you never know what he's going to do next. If we were to put it simply, which isn't easy to do, his output matches experimental rhythms and abstract sound art to create bold and striking compositions which are rightfully described as raising more questions than answers. The first instalment of his UXY Dosing© (UD) album, a maximalist genre of electronic music that he's coined which is linked to the over-consumption of dextrose, came out last year and was explored in full in our Track By Track series. Now he's back with the follow up, another batch of unexpected and complex compositions that flaunt his dexterity at transcending genres and styles.

The night was dark and cold - it was surprising quite how chilly it could get once the sun had sunk beneath the mountains. For during the day it was the polar opposite - heat beamed down upon the great desert and left no room for anything to grow.

As they travelled across the outback, the only noise they'd hear was the intermittent rumble of thunder in the distance as another storm broke. The wind howled against the rickety old buggy as they sped across the wild sands, across dunes and great plains. 

How had they found themselves out here? So lost and all alone.
