Trusted Gadigal Land/Sydney-originating now Cammeraygal Land-based DJ, producer and label head Andy Garvey has recently announced the expansion of her much-revered label Pure Space, and the first transmission of brand new sub-label, Open Phase.

That inaugural transmission is being handled by Naarm/Melbourne-based al dente and Brooklyn-based artists djfix and jek, with a visual collaboration between Gadigal Land’s bbennnybb and jek as well.

The new sub-label's commitment to cross-continental collaboration unfolds particularly midway through the release, with international collaborators remixing one another’s work.

'it's warmer by the trees', originally produced by djfix & jek but whose remix by al dente is premiered here, sees the Naarm-originating producer stripping the original back to its most minimal form.

Featuring al dente's signature emphasis on atmopshere achieved through percussion, as well as a growling, often 'gloopy' use of synth for which he's become known, this remix reimagines the original for a context physically far away, but spiritually close.

OP001 releases via Pure Space's Bandcamp on Wednesday, March 11.

BUTO BAYANG, the Berlin-based platform founded by ENNIO and HAMY in late 2025, presents its first compilation, highlighting the creativity and diversity of Asian and Asian diaspora producers in electronic music. Following successful club nights in Bali and Berlin, this compilation brings together ten artists from across Asia and the diaspora, each with a distinct sound and identity:

Xiaolin, a Hong Kong–born producer; TWIENA, a Vietnamese artist based in Amsterdam; Jiho, a South Korean producer based in Tokyo; Shanda, originally from Hong Kong and now based in Berlin; BreakLD, an Indonesian artist based in Berlin; Ambrukt from Indonesia; ENNIO, a half-Indonesian producer based in Berlin; Ciriya from Thailand; WILHELMINA, a Filipino artist based in the United States; and Temple Rat, a China-born producer based in Berlin.

The tracks cover a wide range of styles and moods, resulting in a dynamic and engaging listening experience that reflects the diverse voices of the artists involved.
