This trumpet and piano instrumental version was done back in April 2021. I always loved the way Joe Cocker did this song - so loving and gentle. I think we all have or had someone special who we think of in this way. That they are so beautiful to you. This song is not cleaned up at all.  Very little post-recording work.
The point of this song was to demonstrate just one of the processes I use to make songs on a BOSS RC 50 Loop Pedal track, and to try out making a composite music video of me playing multiple parts like everyone does at some point.  This is just my raw voice with no vocoders or pedals this time.  I kind of did an ok job on the video, but I'll let you be the judge.  I used Kdenlive on Ubuntu Linux to make the video.

Ascension tells the story of a protagonist following his career path, overcoming fears and barriers, getting over self doubt and adverse conditions. Or maybe the tale of a space odyssey operated by a huge company and its rise to the most powerful entity of mankind.

This is a hybrid track starting with a solo violin and piano and strings accompaniment. A constant soft string ostinato is opposed to a synth pulse. The middle part starts very ambient with spacious pads but rises in tension with the help of the orchestra.

The climax is introduced with a strong melodic statement played by horns. It's further developed with modulation and varied instrumentation.

The outro is more or less a mirror of the intro.
