When all was well the times were filled
Close together, a love in bloom
You gave it all as life stepped in
Chipping pieces, stagnant room.

So hard to guess where all went wrong
Little things weren't seen as clear
Within that span connection waned
Slowly losing what held here.

Once that spark has fizzled out
The cups are empty, nothing left
Subtle changes, grew apart
Until the distance swallows it.

Recall the effort, what mattered most
Talked for hours, laughed and teased
Remember when you felt as one?
Knew the meaning, aimed to please?

The fall was slow each day some more
Taking short-cuts, habits born
Her interest fades and knows not how
Time to move on, past to mourn.

All these small things added up
And why you stopped them, reasons dry
Now she's checked out, cleaned her hands
Until the distance made here cry.

No words would bring her back again
Left before she laid it bare
She knew well why; one part is sure

tiny soldiers fight battles in sandcastle boxes
adorned with merchandise stickers and stuff
while the snakes all rythmically rattle their rattles
as each drop in the lead pipes sizzles with toxins
and prosperity preachers sleep and dream rough

red-shifted galaxies slip by within bubbles ablaze
as the sun spot jacuzzi breeds tadpoles of light
watch planets breathe plasma in a self-centering sigh
unfastening fixings and fillings in mental space
there is no-one seeing but personified sight

there's a physics-sized gap in time's memory
opened by tricks played on Schroedinger's mind
provoked by some impulse to doze off and nap
and to sleepily call off the rabied hounds of rigidity
and just be gracious and gentle and kind

she has been coming with the kids for 3 years which is cool and special since the average lifespan of a raccoon in the wild is only 2-3 years (unlike many sing birds that can live 13 years+). the center photo is from a few days ago and the one with the kids is last year or year before.
