This trumpet and piano instrumental version was done back in April 2021. I always loved the way Joe Cocker did this song - so loving and gentle. I think we all have or had someone special who we think of in this way. That they are so beautiful to you. I was trying to make a relaxed dissonant melancholy song, in the style of Erik Satie (think Minecraft).  This was improvised on my Korg Radias and recorded to my BOSS RC 50 Loop Pedal.

I had just composed my song "Resilient", and in the album cover, I had made a tiny little dandelion on the bottom right where it was brighter, the point being the dandelion survives regardless of the crumbling buildings, etc.  And I wanted to get back into some symphonic music.  This is supposed to be the mind of the dandelion.  It is not technically an overture of course.

Ascension tells the story of a protagonist following his career path, overcoming fears and barriers, getting over self doubt and adverse conditions. Or maybe the tale of a space odyssey operated by a huge company and its rise to the most powerful entity of mankind.

This is a hybrid track starting with a solo violin and piano and strings accompaniment. A constant soft string ostinato is opposed to a synth pulse. The middle part starts very ambient with spacious pads but rises in tension with the help of the orchestra.

The climax is introduced with a strong melodic statement played by horns. It's further developed with modulation and varied instrumentation.

The outro is more or less a mirror of the intro.
