founder of Zugvögel Festival and the Conartism Collective, he has since built a

strong reputation of going the extra mile as a DJ. His hard-hitting, genre-spanning
approach has led to euphoria on dancefloors across the nation.
His productions are rooted on the hard side of house music, incorporating elements
from acid, electro, techno and beyond to create powerful pieces sought-after by other
artists.

Pour ce 5ème mix de la série, notre nouvel invité, DJ Psychiatre, prend le parti de défricher la période 1988-1992. Une fine sélection de disques proposé dans un mix qui balaye de nombreux sous-genres, le tout subtilement exécuté. Quelques mots de l'invité :

"What I particularly appreciate about electronic music is the blend of genres and eras. There will always be a trend, whether in terms of tempo, sub-genre, or sound, with some artists seeking to be on trend, others wanting an old-school sound, others sounding very avant-garde, and others mixing influences.

As a collector and someone interested in mixing, it's a real pleasure to be able to compose a homogeneous mix from tracks that are thirty years apart. For this mix, I wanted to go back to basics and set myself the limit of using tracks only from the period 1988-1992. It's an important period that corresponds to the international democratization of a genre which, barely arrived, is already diversifying massively (Acid House, Garage House, Ambient House).

Recorded live and 100% vinyl, I hope you enjoy it."

We are Leon & Marius aka Das Carma making House music since quite a while. We've released so far on 124 Recordings, Hustler Traxx, Snazzy Traxx, Nerd Records, BORG Ltd and Rough Recordings. For 2018 we already have some releases in the pipeline and we are curious to share them with you. We like to call our style "Proper House music" since we‘re not focusing on one sub genre of House but include many facets. We love the soulful and hard hitting sides of House music which you can tell from our mixes and releases.

There are few as fun as this man. That could be taken in a number of ways but it's the absolute truth, from the music he makes to his long wispy hair and his exceptional taste in records. As a disc jockey he remains unrivalled in his selection process and his ability to keep a party rocking from dusk til' dawn, there are few who can do it with as much style and carefree gravitas as Jonny. 

Since 2005 he has also been a mysterious figure in the studio, releasing music on a sprawling array of labels including Fleeting Wax, Bahnsteig 23, Oye Edits and beyond. A firm favourite from all concerned at Ransom Note we are wholeheartedly delighted to be able to have him contribute to our honourable mix series. In fine style...
