HSQ is a distinctive saxophone quartet performing classic and contemporary jazz as well as original compositions.  It showcases the talents of four strong, experienced saxophonists – Jim Collins, Helen Pillinger, Will Lenton and Helena Summerfield. Performing together for over ten years, The HSQ line up includes unusual combinations of saxophones and other member woodwind family.

As Mamma Freedom front man he is the centre piece of a master painters picture, surrounded by a cast of brothers and engulfed in a wall of colour and sound.
As a solo artist we finally get to hear his voice with stripped down songs in a more intimate direct setting.
This is a voice that isn't just soulful it's a voice full of true soul, true emotion, true feeling, but with the style and class of heroes past.

The songs on 'Knockturns' (a nod to a big influence in Chopin and his Nocturnes) are pure, crafted, thoughtful, insightful, witty and bare the scars, the highs, the lows, the stories, the twisted ironies, the triumph and range of life's emotions as his gravel driven velvet tinged tones scales effortlessly through the album.

To get a quote from J on himself or his own work is hard but in a way would seem to defeat the purpose of this album. The songs, the lyrics, the singer and the sound is enough. He wants you to take whatever your heart and head decide from the songs and that is enough for him.

Hannah Rose Platt is an enchanting singer-songwriter and talented guitarist who specializes in Americana / folk music, with storytelling at its heart. She recorded her debut album Portraits in Nashville last year (produced by Michael Bonagura- Baillie & the Boys) where she worked with some of the industry's leading names, Grammy award-winning musicians Mark Fain, (Ricky Skaggs, Dolly Parton) Stuart Duncan (Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton, The Nashville Bluegrass Band, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss) and Jeff Taylor (The Time Jumpers, Elvis Costello). 
Born and raised in Liverpool, Hannah began playing the guitar when she was five, teaching herself how to play. Her musical education came from her stepfather who would encourage her to listen to a wide variety of music, scouring his extensive record collection for inspiration for her. Having played gigs around the country and in the USA, she released Portraits independently in March this year. The album has already received widespread critical acclaim and many of the tracks have received considerable airplay on BBC Radio Merseyside, Resonance FM, Wrecking Ball Radio and Europe's leading country radio station CMR Nashville. Hannah’s track ‘1954’ has also been featured in Channel 4’s Hollyoaks several times this year. Portraits was also included  in Glamour Magazine’s ‘Summer soundtrack 2015. She was also featured on the back cover of Maverick Magazine and on their compilation CD, and is booked to play Summertyne Americana Festival 2015.
