After defeating Karmic Sans, you take Chara's SOUL for yourself and store it in one of the soul containment pods meant initially for your own soul. Who knows... could come in handy sometime, right?

You continue you journey throughout the Underground. You slaughter countless monsters, grow countlessly stronger, and arrive at the throne room, only to find it empty. A weird but welcome surprise. You've finally found them. Your friends. Except it's only their SOULs. There's seven, now, including the one of that traitor. You've learned by now that seven were needed to destroy the barrier.

So you do it. Not to free monsterkind, but to taunt them. To show whoever's left that freedom is right in their grasp now, but they'll never be able to truly achieve it. You destroy the barrier, and walk out.

===== NOTES =====
You walk outside. Birds are singing. Flowers are blooming. It's just as you remember. People are outside. People have been looking. "There you are," they say. "Where have you been? We've been worried sick?"

You break down.

You cry.

You lie.

You tell lies about the monsters. The horrible things they never did to you. That you had to fight back. You tell them there's still monsters left, but you were brave and fought back. 
You tell them the truth, too. You tell them they killed your friends. You tell them they died by the hands of the monsters. You tell them you went looking for them, only to discover this.

Some people rush into the mountain through the newly unblocked opening, looking to find whoever's responsible for all of this. All the while you continue to cry and make people feel sorry for you when in reality you're the one they should be fearing right now.

There's been some valid concerns and criticisms on yesterday's track, particularly in regards to how overpowered Sans and Chara might be and especially how this would affect the later battles, making them a bit more anticlimactic in comparison.

This is absolutely correct! At least in their current form, NIGHTMARE and PAYBACK's respective contexts are a bit underwhelming. These songs were made at a time when I didn't even know if I'd be continuing with Monster Mix beyond the silly little songs I made at the the very beginning. If I'd known I'd be making more, I probably wouldn't've made those yet in the first place. It's why things like Flowey's characterization were eventually addressed, or contexts were changed or sprites were updated. A lot of the early stuff was done without the forethought the rest of the AU got. A lot of it was addressed, but not everything got that luxury yet.

Their new contexts *will* eventually be revealed, but given my plans for Monster Mix, I'm not sure I'm ready to yet. (Actually, I KNOW I'm not ready yet. I haven't even FIGURED OUT their new contexts!)
The general ideas should stay the same. You'll still fight the same people during the merciless route that I've revealed. It's just that the exact circumstances revolving these fights might drastically change by the time I'm ready to reveal things.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention as it has been very helpful towards thinking about what the rest of this route might look like. Your input is appreciated and while I realize I won't please everyone, I hope I can make the appropriate adjustments to things that still maintains what I'm going for while also just making enough sense in the story.

Undyne persists even with all the damage you've already done to her. Papyrus is gone now. She's pretty much the last of her kind... and after all the humans that have gone looking for monsters to pin the blame on, she feels she won't have much else to look back on soon.

But she cannot give up. She cannot let you kill her. So she doesn't. Instead, she simply walks off. She knows she can't beat you, that you'll find a way to beat her if she keeps going. So she leaves.

"This... This isn't over, punk."
"I'll grow stronger."
"I'll grow more resilient."
"I'll grow so powerful that I can rip your soul RIGHT FROM YOUR DAMN CHEST."
"..."
"But right now..."
"I'm out of here."

"Oh yeah."

"Thanks for freeing us, chump."
"Guess you weren't ready for that to backfire on you, huh?"

===== CLARIFICATIONS =====
I've declared this deserves its own section so I don't have to break the initially intended flow of this description.

This may raise some questions as well as to how Undyne's even able to survive any hits against a LV20 human. Fair question! I think however it's pretty important to look at the sort of monsters you fight in Hotland or the CORE and the level Frisk would be at at that stage. Already fairly close to LV20. If regular encounter monsters can tank 2-3 full power hits at like LV16/17 I think someone like Undyne could take a hell of a lot.

(Also, probably worth mentioning that I don't think Frisk would have the true knife/heart locket that they have in Undertale, those being the strongest weapons in the game. They'd still pack one hell of a punch, don't get me wrong! Just realistically not as much as they would've having the strongest possible weapon.)

There's also simply that Undyne probably wouldn't let Frisk get many hits in. This battle would, even considering Karmic Sans, be long, difficult and most importantly leave you with a REALLY unsatisfying ending if you're one of those people who just want to see the world burn.

Try as you might, she simply WILL NOT let you kill her, and there's no reality in which she *would* let you.
