The ghosts of the saints are hanging from the branches of the trees
Whilst lovers walk below in innocence of the things they cannot see
red and gold question marks remind me of a line from Socrates
In matters of the heart we are no wiser as to the root of our disease

As autumn breezes blow our thoughts to settle in the heaps of missing times 
our slowly faded longing in these 
reveries and dreams 

You say that you don't care, but you know you care too much
A hardened shell protects you now, from all of that stuff
But you're not kidding anyone, we can see straight through your bluff
the hardest lessons are served to those who think they're tough

and we are not cold and we are not kind and 
sometimes we care to much for the things we left behind in these
reveries and dreams

Pick your path, we make our way with the blind leading the blind
monstrous truths are buried in our deep sub conscious mind in our
reveries and dreams

now the dusk is falling earlier as the air smells sweet and chill
and thoughts turn to the holidays and the season of goodwill
We could have done it differently in this tale from storyville
But it's time to call the waiter over, it's time to get the bill

And the memories like smoke in the wind, becoming thinner by the year
remind you of the things you love and the things that you hold dear in these
reveries and dreams

I created this quick little piece as a background music for the instagram reels of my wife. Compared to the orchestral composition I'm currently working on for ages, it went lightning-fast.
