Another youth artist showcase put on by Notes For Notes! The Santa Barbara West Boys & Girls Club hosted this afternoon of music, closing out summer 2025 and welcoming fall. This live album highlights the talent and creativity of our youth through a mix of covers and original songs.

Patrick raps about his adolescent life, reflecting on the obstacles he had to overcome. He meditates on these childhood challenges shaping his character for better and for worse, and the importance of believing in yourself even when the odds are stacked against you. He now lives in upstate NY on campus, but briefly comes home to visit his family and visit me for studio time. 

Patrick is 19 years old and has been a member for about 4 months. He is passionate about music production and engineering and is currently in his freshman year of college studying Music technology.

This track's lyrics are confronting and speak volumes to the anger and betrayal at the heart of the project. Sandrea speaks about the pain that comes when you open yourself up to someone who doesn't turn out to be who you thought they were, and who abuses the trust you give out. Sandrea uses this track as an outlet to release that pain, remind herself of the love she is deserving of, and move forward in healing.

Sandrea is 19 and has been a member of Notes for Notes for over 6 years, and has been steadily working on honing her artistry throughout the years. On top of applying herself rigorously to her schoolwork as well as working part-time, she always sets time aside to learn music production, engineering, and rapping, her true passions.

I paired Ana and Kaden up to make a beat together one day in ableton. They went through splice samples to pick out the guitar and piano riffs that would form the foundation of the beat. Then we worked to arrange the beat out to have breaks, transtitions, and moments to keep our ears fresh. We learned about dynamics, addition by subtraction, and how to balance writers fatigue. I'm very proud of what they came up with!

Ana and Kaden are 12 and 10 years old, and have been members for about 3 months. They love learning ableton and how to make beats.
