Drunk, 16. When the time was right we drove the car to the beach in the dark.
Quietly. I swam as far out as I could, ignored the screams.

Pitch black freshwater played the role of headphones.
Even darker sky, my tv and my telephone.
Emma worried, maybe sensed something I did not know.
I do now, though.

Grew up too soon. Brought brick weed and imagined truth. Laughing moon.
Black cocoon. Still the same old water passing time. New kids by the waterline.
And in my head they swim again towards the deepest part.
All their friends back on the beach with hindsight in their hearts.
No, it´s mine, since no one is there. Guess I played the role a bit too hard...
