Windscale summer vacation 2023

Subterranean / basement offering - this is a rare outing for my guitar which I love to pick at (even tho it's steel strings numb my fingers!).
Another rarity is a wail on my old Pierret tenor sax which I've had since 1972 and still blows nice.

The concept behind this series is to present a series of binaural beats for brainwave entrainment. The user can then create playlists or sequences of these for meditation or relaxation.

These beats, or oscillations, are on a carrier tone of 216 hertz (an octave of 432). The monochord creates a drone in the background. The monochord is closely associated with Pythogoras. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monochord) The tuning system with A equaling 432hz is also called "Pythagorean Tuning". -- sonicyogi.com

These oscillations are technically only "binaural beats" when wearing headphones. This is because the "beat" (wah wah sound) consists of two tones heard in the left and right headphone. However, they are still effective when listened to on a phone, computer, or other player, because the beat can still be heard. In this case it would be a "monaural beat" because it is being heard without headphones. In either case it is effective for brainwave entrainment.

Atlanta’s “Bog Witch” and Boise’s “Mystic Tape Deck” announce the release of a new collaborative single, “Dogs of Chernobyl” to mark the anniversary of the Chernobyl Disaster.

Following the April 26, 1986 nuclear accident, the City of Pripyat was evacuated. The residents were forced to leave their pets (including domestic dogs) behind.  

Nearly 40 years after the accident, the descendants of these dogs are still living in the Exclusion Zone and a study is currently taking place. 

Scientists are sampling the DNA of the dogs. Apparently, their DNA is irregular in some interesting ways.

Wendy writes “I couldn’t sleep one night and picked-up my phone to surf when I noticed an article about the radioactive dogs of Chernobyl.  Right away it seemed like a song.”  

Wendy invited Mystic Tape Deck to collaborate with her in creating the sonic pallet for this song, the proceeds from all sales of which will be donated to the Clean Futures Fund. 

The Clean Futures Fund relies upon donations to provide medical supplies, vaccines, and food for the dogs living in the Exclusion Zone.

Teth Sin finally seems to be back with a cool wicked track called Gazelle, featuring his friend Luna on vocals/recitation. She decorated with her vivid poetry one of those creepy, dark soundscapes I've been working on these last few months. I sincerely thank her for this amazing contribution, and for her active involvement in the whole creative process of this title. Thanks for taking the time to listen to it.

A trip down to Rosarito did not go according to plan. From leaving my phone in a taxi, to discovering my bank account is frozen, getting arrested in the hotel lobby over a little taxi misunderstanding, spending the night in jail, paying the cop forty dollars to let us sneak out the back door, hitchhiking back to the boarder while insanely hungover... You could not possibly fit it all into one song. A vacation to remember.
