Low End Activist arrives on Rinse with his signature bass mutations honed in on a new strain of ice cold grime fronted by rapidly rising star Duppy.
From recent moves on ESP Institute and regular haunt Sneaker Social Club back to earlier drops on Earful of Wax and Seagrave, Low End Activist has taken the hardcore continuum in all kinds of directions, equally informed by jungle and speed garage as much as grime and dubstep. Following up on past collaborations with MCs like Flowdan, Trim, Razor and Sikka Rhymes, in this link-up with Duppy he’s highlighting one voice in a vital new wave of grime MCs, and delivering a forward-leaning beat to match.
Duppy’s flow on ‘Glazial’ proves he’s worthy of every bit of shine he’s received recently. His self- produced breakthrough EP ‘Delusions of Grandeur’ drew praise from Trench and GRM Daily to The Wire, not least for its inventive flip on grime’s established sound. That makes him a perfect fit as he spits with urgency and dexterity over LEA’s warping, writhing production.
