Glisten @iamglisten created a set for "Sounds of Places" as part of the residency program on Radio Alhara. She tells us a story by blending sounds that she recorded and collected throughout her residency at the Wonder Cabinet.

Sofia Lambrou is interested in the trace left by movement on individual and collective memory. She begins by photographing the blazing bodies at night, gradually shifting her focus to the movement of bodies in the landscape, constrained by geopolitical upheavals. As a permanent resident at Wonder Cabinet - Radio Alhara in Bethlehem, Palestine, as part of her project 'L'anabase,' her artistic practice spans photography, radio plays, installation, and film, weaving a link between exile, myths, and landscape in a poetic and protean manner. Taking shape in immersion, each work is the result of encounters, rituals, and collective experiments that attempt to reconcile what has been fragmented, creating a form of ubiquity between the places and subjects studied. Starting from a reality made up of fragments, which, through collective gestures, come together to form a plural narrative with a chimerical vocabulary where historical narratives and personal mythologies.

“Sounds of Places” is an annual residency-based sound gathering that focuses on the sonic aesthetics of places. The pilot edition will take place from May 24 to June 2, 2024 in the Cremisan Valley, one of the last green spaces around the city of Bethlehem in Palestine. The residency developed over the first months of 2024 at the Wonder Cabinet and culminating in a 10-day public program, involves sonic artists, artisans, designers, visual artists, and the nuns at the Cremisan Monastery. In conjunction with a palimpsest of workshops, conversations, screenings, culinary gatherings, and collective healing activities, three sound sculptures will be placed in the landscape. Whether activated by wind, rain, humidity, dew, sun, or by the interaction with visitors, or by blending composed sonic pieces with live sounds from the landscape, the installations resonate with the valley and with each other. Together, they create a repository of sounds that potentially speaks to the spirits of other environments, landscapes, both close by and on the other side of the world.

In just three editions, Mostra Festival has achieved what many events aspire to but rarely reach – consistently bringing out the best in the artists who perform. Part of this success is due to perfectly matching the music to the specific time slots and settings. Following Sybil's meticulously timed and skillfully executed mix, the responsibility of closing the "day portion" at the Foso stage was assigned to one of Amsterdam's finest exports, Konduku. 

While many anticipated his signature polyrhythmic brain dance style, a great DJ knows how to read the moment and adapt accordingly. Konduku delivered a quirky, minimal techno set that had us bopping against Castell's walls the entire time. The set never lost its momentum, with unexpected synth stabs and a flurry of mid-high percussion adding a delightfully offbeat twist to the steady four-on-the-floor rhythm. 
It was a gloriously weird sunset, and that's a good thing.

I met the lovely Copehagen based Vika, @vika-cph at Kune Festival on an island off Copenhagen last year after I'd stumbled upon her set on the beach in the afternoon - playing dreamy half speed & soft dnb. 

As part of the core amazing Kune festival crew, she's an important member of the Copenhagen scene, and has a beautiful polyrhythmic, enchanting dj style of fast & slow, hard and soft. Very happy to host her in the series :)
