LOFT (@loftminduk) is the latest artist to join the Astral Plane Recordings family and will debut on October 14 with the enigmatic Turbulent Dynamics EP. With a penchant for rhizomic drum programming, sparkling synth work and hallucinogenic sound design, Turbulent Dynamics is comprised of two totemic floor burners and three interstitial efforts, ranging from cerebral polyrhythmic techno to grotesque new age manipulations. In terms of sound alone LOFT’s entry to the APR catalogue marks something of a departure, but his unwillingness to genuflect to sonic convention means he fits right in with the ethos that SHALT, Chants and Nunu have previously set out.

@yuyuclubmexico x Infinite Machine V/A is a collaboration whose result is a compilation of 14 tracks designed for the dance floor; solid, functional and esoteric. This is a selection of tracks produced by Mexican artists involved in the Club movement from different cities in Mexico, all of them with a conceptual and geographical separation, but with common features that synthesize the essence of the national scene.

Definitive proof of the maturity of the Club scene in Mexico, this compilation is born as an initiative by the most important venue in the capital of Mexico: Yu Yu, which joins forces with the pioneering label Infinite Machine to curate this compilation. An avant-garde ensamble of projects which aims to exhibit a shared imagination through the unification of different styles and music genres. All of this comes from the perspective of Yu Yu's resident, Mexico City-based label, Infinite Machine. A label that has a direct correlation with the global club scene.

This effort also has the goal to financially support the artists involved due to the delicate situation we are going through. As they are part of Yu Yu's community, which is unfortunately closed at the moment. Artists involved from the likes of Nico, AAAA, Microhm with worldwide recognition to up and coming artists like Benfika, OMAAR, CNDSD and the current, most fresh national acts like Loris, KOI and El Irreal Veintiuno. Among other key pieces of national electronics, united in this soundscape of volatile frequencies.

The car raced through the city beneath the glow of the street lights. They illuminated the road ahead as the evo raced towards the finish line. In pursuit was a collection of cars and bikes, they whizzed by startled pedestrians and onlookers sat perched on street corners in bars and cafes. The city was lawless after dark, chaos unfolded beneath the black of night as the racers and mischievous came out to play beneath its cloak. The engines roared as the city sprung to life. 

Duswunder is set to release a new EP on All Centre, a record label which seems to always be ahead of the curve and plotting behind the scenes. Each release is as startling as the last and the latest doesn't fail to disappoint.

To wind up 2020, Allergy Season is excited to share Drum Control – 6 tracks of fierce, forceful house (and beyond) from Lady Blacktronika. 

Connecting the dots between a brand of ultra-deep house first mastered in the early 2000’s on the West Coast, and tough-as-nail techno transmitted from Berlin under her Femanyst alias, Drum Control is a jump forward for Lady Blacktronika. Hers is a sound sketched out over dozens of releases, now etched into stone: emotive singing and unyielding sample mastery, channeled through raw emotional house, disco and techno.  “Can I Turn Too” leads us off with a step out of the darkness and into the light; all glint and glimmer, with one final glance over the shoulder before moving on. “Drum Control” is pure slow-cooked funk, warm and powerful with a lysergic swirl to it, a callback to Lady Blacktronika’s storied history cutting and chopping extended disco edits.

Extended is the byword for the EP’s core: over nearly 7 minutes “Female Troubles” plays out a back-and-forth between the mantras of “you give good love” and “I still want you to call me,” an opus to the “dilemmas of womanhood.” She runs it even longer on “Tootfairy Noises,” keeping the pressure at a simmer, leading a bass-heavy, whistle-driven carnival of the damned that can step toe-to-toe with any psychedelic techno without breaking a sweat.

If the rasping open hi-hats and earworm chords of “Shoulda Known Better 2018” make you wish the song would roll on endlessly, you’re in luck. Lady Blacktronika doubles down with an infectious “Reverso” twist, bringing the beat back one last time with a harder edge and hypnotic crunch. Drum Control is a reinforcement of what some know, and more are due to find out: that after all these years, we’re still living in A Blacktronika World.
