Special thanks to Abby Echiverri and Clay Wilson for making this happen as well as to the LCD crew, who were extremely friendly, helpful  and accommodating. This was a nice opportunity to play some things (new & old) that I don't get the chance to play out often—a mixture of edits, post-punk influences and slow-tempo weirdness as well as some acid house and Frankie Goes To Hollywood. Born in London and having lived in Bristol, James Laing (@soundsfromthenightgarden) draws from the sounds of both cities, alongside his musical knowledge which he has gained during his classical compositional training. With releases on Melifera, Indefinite Pitch & Beatrice M's hybrid Dubstep label, Bait, Night Garden aims to create richly psychedelic & hypnotic pieces which combine modern sound design with classical theoretical concepts.

“Dubstep has been one of my favourite genres of music for years but I’ve often found it tricky to place alongside the deeper techno I usually mix. At the beginning of
this summer, dubstep is pretty much all I was listening to, so, when I was presented the opportunity to close a party I attended in Umbria in June, I thought I’d try and solve this issue. This mix builds from deep dubstep through to high-energy techno via more abstract forms of 140 in the centre.”

Osmura live w/ Night Garden 05

Shinsuke Goto, curator and resident DJ at Tokyo’s Mitsuki, contributes a finely tuned mix for this edition of Unrush. I heard him play in Tokyo in 2024, where his DJ set revealed a deep sensitivity for the trippier side of electronic music - a quality that also flows through this mix.

Here, Shinsuke explores spacious soundscapes and intricate layers of sound design, moving between stillness and subtle motion. Mostly beatless, yet punctuated by gentle rhythmic currents, the mix unfolds with quiet tension and release. It’s a carefully shaped piece that draws the listener in through detail, texture, and a refined sense of flow.

“For this mix, I really enjoyed digging and finding tracks that spoke to me without setting too many boundaries in terms of genre. I wanted to let things flow naturally, to follow a feeling rather than a structure. There’s a strong presence of 90s cuts throughout — records that carry mind-trip energy, nostalgica, expensive and deep sounds, which felt right for this one.”

DK's session was captured at the event following his recent release on Midgar fulfilling a debut at the label showcase event.

On the day he played the second slot of the afternoon after Lilli Zykla's ambient opening,  gently shifting towards left field territories covered in drums at a downtempo pace.

Volume was a one-day event held at Auditorium San Fedele in Milan on October 10, 2025. Conceived in memory of Loris Moretto and on the occasion of his birthday, it brought together artists, friends and sound. A gathering built from frequencies, echoes and silence - a collective act of listening. Volume is the measure of sound, the space it fills and the energy it leaves behind.
The program featured a DJ set by Luca Renton, Simone Merli and Eli Imsirovic (Concentric Records and E/Tape), followed by the screening of the film "Messengers" (2022-ongoing, 23'51'') by Rebecca Salvadori and a unique live performance by Tobias Freund (Tobias.) called "Semblance of Nature"
