Ruff Stuff Music returns with its first release in four years this March, the project sees label head Ruff Stuff releasing material from himself and three other artists, all of which come from the same town, have been friends from many years and share the same love for a particular style of house.

With the ‘70024 Beats Roots Vol.1’, Ruff Stuff welcomes onto the various artist package his ex Ruff Stuff
production partner, now producing under the name of Flaze, Bress Underground and Toysin who debuts this
moniker but is also known for his Techno material under the guise Earwax.

Flaze’s ‘Resolve’ leads the release and lays down an amalgamation of hazy chords, bumpy bass stabs,
wandering strings and stuttering vocal chops atop a swinging drum groove. Bress Underground’s ‘I Bet You’re Wond’rin’ follows next and retains a similarly deep aesthetic, fusing ethereal pads, gritty bass stabs and bright piano sequences with crunchy shuffled drums and cut up vocal lines.

Label boss Ruff Stuff opens the flip-side next with ‘Gut Feel’, bringing a more vintage tinge to things via organ hits, cinematic strings, circling fm synth lines and squelchy acid licks. Toysin’s ‘You Don’t Pass The Exam’ then rounds out the release on a disco house tip via looped and chopped funk-guitar licks, vocal chants and weighty subs, while a weight 4/4 drum groove further fuels the energetic, peak time feel.

Roll le Barge is back on Kizi Garden with an EP dedicated to his first passion, House music. Inspired by the greatest, his tracks combine classic sounds of the genre and modernity. On a more personal register, this release is also a tribute to his years spent in Montreal before returning to France. Mixing unforgettable encounters, memories of past moments and the emotion of a too abrupt departure, we feel the musical universe of a man on the move, torn between two places where his heart has settled. We also find in this release a touching farewell of Anatohl in the form of a remix linking the two artists for eternity. A limited series of hand-cut vinyls is also available, a sort of artifact testifying to the Barge's passage in Montreal.

As a continued effort to try and make interesting merges between new and already existing sounds, Ghosten has been born. 

As an ode to the whitelabels and bootlegs, as well as some of the Paxton Fettel Vinyl Only releases I've done over the years, this is an ongoing process of expanding my ways of making edits, remakes and tributes. These are usually done with house as a camera, jazz as objective and funk as the colour grading. The only difference from my old approach is that most of the elements are now played by myself, and no longer sampled. 

As I take these merely as scientific explorations of old audio, merged with live instruments, soundscapes, field recordings, and a complete new composition and mix - I've decided to give them away for free. It's mostly a jamming project for me, where I get to have alot of fun. 
However I think the results are interesting enough to share, and maybe some day inspire others to try out new stuff, even if it has no relevance or makes no sense to anyone. 

So here goes Ghosten. (lol, that sounds pretty daft - so let's keep it).
