Steve-NRG: Biography

Steve-NRG, an influential figure in the UK's hard dance scene, has spent over a decade perfecting his craft as both a DJ and a music producer. Rising to prominence in the late 00’s, he made a serious impact on the industry, carving a reputation as a versatile and electrifying artist. Known for his seamless ability to mix on vinyl and CDJs, Steve quickly rose through the ranks of the underground Birmingham hard dance scene and secured a place on the main stages of some of the UK's most iconic clubs and events.

Steve’s big break came with a residency at Sundissential, arguably the biggest hard dance event of its time, where his unique stage presence and impressive technical skills won him fans across the globe. Regular performances at events such as Frantic, Polysexual, and Goodgreef solidified his reputation as one of the hardest-working and most in-demand DJs of the era. His deep understanding of crowd dynamics and his vast music knowledge allowed him to adapt to any set time, creating unforgettable moments that kept the dancefloor alive and buzzing.

But it wasn't just his DJing that propelled Steve-NRG to fame. His music production skills also caught the attention of the hard dance world. As a producer, he quickly became a key figure in the scene, with his tracks regularly supported by some of the genre's biggest names, including Andy Farley, Justin Bourne, Karim, Ian M, Andy Whitby, JP & Jukesy, Cally Gage, and Ben Stevens. His tracks were a staple of many DJs' sets, and he kept some of his most exclusive material reserved for his own performances, adding a sense of uniqueness to his live shows.

One of Steve’s most iconic productions came in 2006, when he co-produced the hard house anthem "Stack the Galli" with fellow DJ and production partner Riggsy (also known as Steve Ricketts/Dharkfunkh). The track received major support and was released on vinyl, later appearing on the renowned Tidy Weekender 10 Live compilation album. This success marked the beginning of an impressive list of further signings and releases, including the remix of Steve Blake’s "Expression", one of Steve-NRG's all-time favourite tracks, which was signed to Tidy Trax. His own production "Deeper Down" was another milestone, featuring on Tidy Weekender 12 and later being released on the 50th edition Vinyl of Toolbox Recordings and part of their Toolbox Volume 2 album, mixed by legendary hard house DJ Justin Bourne.

Beyond his work as a performer and producer, Steve-NRG distinguished himself as a savvy businessman within the music industry. Co-owning Razor Recordings, a prominent vinyl imprint, and later founding Test Lab Recordings, Steve-NRG sought to give back to the scene by providing a platform for the next generation of hard dance producers. Through these ventures, Steve demonstrated not only his love for the genre but also his commitment to its growth and evolution.

Steve-NRG’s influence extended into event management as well. He played an instrumental role in the success of several nightclub brands and events, managing two separate Artist Management booking agencies and collaborating with promoters across the country. As co-promoter and tour manager for Sundissential, Steve helped re-establish the iconic event and its associated tour brand, ensuring its continued relevance and success in the hard dance scene.

In 2013, Steve-NRG embarked on a new business venture, founding C’est La Vit Records, a label inspired by the origins of hard house and the legendary Tony De Vit. The label captured the sound and spirit of the golden era of hard dance, further cementing Steve's legacy as a forward-thinking artist and entrepreneur.

After a hiatus, Steve-NRG is now re-establishing himself as a leading force in the scene. With new music on the horizon and a relaunch of both Razor Recordings and C’est La Vit Records, Steve is set to return to the stage and continue doing what he loves—sharing his passion for music with the world.
Once again, the hard dance scene will experience the electrifying energy of Steve-NRG, as he takes his place back in front of the crowd and continues to inspire the next generation of DJs and producers.

DBS is one of the Sydney techno scenes true underground heroes. He has been delivering the goods to clubgoers for over 20 years.
 
Kicking off his music career in the late 90’s, DBS burst into the Sydney Hard Dance scene, having been an avid vinyl collector for many years his unique sound of both techno and hard trance was a breath of fresh air. 
Quickly landing residencies at some of Sydney's most iconic clubs such as Icebox, Gas & Daydreams he then spread his seed interstate, regularly headlining at Bubble in Melbourne and several events in Canberra.  In 2013 he got his chance to play at Defqon1 on the infamous orange stage straight after Kutski and certainly delivered the goods, being acclaimed by many as the best set of the day on that stage. 

Proving talents far beyond the decks, DBS would deliver some of the most notable Hard Trance productions, with one of his first tracks 'Follow me' getting the much sought-after title of 'Tune of the week' on Fausto's Crossover on the Qdance radio station, plus collaborations such as 'Let it hit'em' with Yoshi and 'Origins' & 'Round and Round' with Hardforze getting into the top 10, shortly after cracking the number 1 spot with his remix of 'The way' with Ultraviolence and Hardforze.    

In 2022, DBS was involved in a tragic accident that left him in a quadriplegic state. After spending close to a year in the hospital, whilst in recovery, DBS delved deep into the online Techno world, live streaming on Twitch directly from the spinal ward nearly every single day and doing so grew a reputable following of close to 3000 loyal fans from across the globe. This momentum saw him getting a booking in Germany, the worlds home of Techno, plus several gigs in Sydney for Black Noir, the city's best and internationally acclaimed Hard Techno club night.

Now two years since the accident, DBS continues to use music to motivate, inspire, and connect with others. With new productions on the horizon his passion for this evolving sound continues to grow, going from strength to strength as both a producer and performer. 
Defined not by his disability, he continues to defy the odds and smash expectations. Delivering unmatched skills and enthusiasm combined with nearly three decades of experience, it’s easy to see why punters are jumping on the DBS hard techno bandwagon.

Sarah Curtis took over Fired Up back in 2006. Already having established itself a good reputation thanks to former label owner Jupe, Sarah has accelerated the label into even more success! We have managed many 'featured' releases on trackitdown.net and are now publishing our releases to over 20 online digital stores, iTunes, Beatport & Audiojelly to name a few. I'm holding high hopes for this to become one of the most popular labels of choice within the Hard Dance industry!

Cally Gage has been gracing us with her presence for almost a decade now and she can only be titled as the ultimate sweetheart of Hard Dance. With her contagious smile, her deep devotion to her fans, a fearsome persona and an undeniable ability to launch herself into anything and everything music related with a wholehearted attitude, it’s hard not to fall in love with her. To watch her perform brings all the best elements of the hard-dance scene together in one delicious package: dedication, skill, talent, flare, finesse and passion.&#13;

She never fails to smash out tracks with classic and thrilling vocals, mind-blowing basslines with her trademark fast and energetic tempo. Cally has come a long way from winning a dj competition at the Tidy Weekender back in 2004. Even after all this time, she’s still as ambitious and involved in the scene as ever and the best is yet to come. With a recently launched label co-owned by herself and Andy Whitby entitled ‘Hard’ and a sensational new podcast introducing some fresh new female talent – ‘Girls Like it Hard’, there’s plenty of projects for her to sink her teeth into. Along with a line of merchandise, albums and events in preparation for these exciting new beginnings, she’ll also be focusing on signing new artists and of course spending some much needed time in the studio.&#13;

Cally is no longer the new girl on the block. She is, without doubt, a definitive icon in the Hard Dance scene of today.

been mixing for about 8 years now and producing bout 2.love the hard dance scene and have been a fan eversince 1999.mr paul glazby was my inspiration to become producer,he has an amazing sound to his tunes.
my sound is slightly more harder,i usually record at 155bpm! hard kicks and hard driving basslines.still learning the trade as i have just started to use cubase now instead of reason...back for seconds with new mixes for 2014,have had a bit of a break.. ;)
