We raise funds for local organizations supporting Asian femme, LGBTQIA+, sex workers, and low-income immigrant demographics in the NY area.

How did you get your DJ name?

I was messing around with a friend, and we were laughing at how absurd this name would sound on a line up.

Fav bpm and why?

140 is the bpm I am truly comfortable in. If I go higher I am ramping it up. Slower than 140bpm is basically downtempo

What is your favorite party/collective where you reside and why?

Climax - these women are making their own space and crafting their own vibe in the current techno paradigm. Their mission and ethics are on point, while their music tastes reside outside of time.
3 X L - the existence of ambient influencers has been confirmed

What do you think future generations will think about the 2022 sound?

What would you like to see in the future for the dance community?

Post capitalism. Humans gathered all the gun supply on Earth, loaded it on a big spaceship and sent it off into the cosmos. The rich are abolished. Reparations have been paid. Therapy has been mandatory for yt men for a few decades now. There is no such thing anymore as a “bedroom producer”, we record our music directly from our brains. Rave Etiquette and Rave History are the subjects studied in middle-school. There is no talk at the raves in the front of the dance floor - we have telepathy for that. DJing as a craft remains the same because it has always been ahead of its time.

Q. How would you describe yourself?
A. I work in the nonprofit/philanthropy world primarily supporting underserved communities. I'm a pretty big goofball and always love diving deep in any subject that interests me. I'm really into cooking with my partner and big music fan of all sorts but, mostly a 2-step UKG, Jungle, and Breaks enthusiast. Guess you could say I'm also a fellow bassbin and soundsystem appreciator.

Q. How long have you been a part of the NY music scene?
A. I moved to NY from Boston about 4 years ago and have been DJing, collecting records, and producing since 2012. Mostly released individual tunes here and there but, am finally putting out an EP of my own with friends very very soon!

Q. Tell us a little bit about this mix.
A. I put this mix together based on the themes that inspired my forthcoming EP. The mix is inspired by sounds I loved hearing while night driving in the canyons with friends in LA; a blend of slower Breakbeat tunes that drive its way through its adjacent influences and ends with some Jungle. I wanted to keep it fun and emotionally engaging with long blends between the tracks, cruising through these bass centric genres that have been a major part of my music life. Since the start of 2019, we've been recording pretty much every minute of every function that's happened at Nowadays. We're lucky enough to be in a position to host the most amazing DJs in the game every single week, both from within the scene here in New York and around the world, and it only felt right to try and share some of the action with those who couldn't make it and with those who want to relive it.

The first installment comes from beloved Nowadays resident and queen of the twilight hours, Beta Librae. Bailey's contributions to the vibe down here, both as a friend, a DJ and a dancer have been tremendous, and what she served up on the hi-fi back in early February blew our minds. This excerpt is taken from the last two hours of the party, just after Noncompliant had finished, and it flawlessly stitches together mutant electro oddities, heady, tribal bombs and super tight, tech-house rollers.

Big thanks to Bailey for the killer sounds, to Lou for the mastering, and to all the hardcore, late-night/early-morning heads for their energy on the dance floor. It might get foggy in here sometimes, but we see you.
