Field of Souls

I made this after gazing in awe at the unbelievably stunning image the James Webb space telescope captured of the SMACS 0723 galaxy cluster—the deepest & farthest into the past humanity has ever seen. It feels unreal that we can reach back into a moment 4.6 billion years ago—when Earth was just a glint in the Milkyway’s eye—and receive its light, here, in our present day. There was something so mystifyingly interwoven and transcendent about that very thought, & that’s what I hope to convey with this piece.
