A brief intermission from the present—this is a restored moment from six years ago, when I first touched the Pocket Operators and felt something shift. The PO-35 Speak and PO-14 Sub opened a new line of creation for me, and this short jam was one of the first sparks.
Now remastered in 4K with a new sound mix, it returns not as a statement, but as a breath between movements. A reminder of where things began, and how playfulness still finds its way into the process.
Not a full release. Not a throwback. Just a small interlude between deeper lines.

The words are from a poem that my grandad composed just before he was killed in action in world war 2. This poem was about my mum and my family didn't know the existence of this poem only until my mum passed away 6 months ago. The lie low in the photo he used to escape from Dunkirk and there is the only photo of my mum "baby blue" and her beloved farther.

So, this is actually a cheeky little remix of ‘The Theme’ by Unique 3, a track originally created by them back in 1989. I decided to omit that fact from the title, because I know lots of people avoid listening to remixes for various reasons - sorry for the mild subterfuge.

No samples from the original, new chords and an emotional divergence that I hope pleases you.

One might argue that Ritalin serves a similar societal role to Soma in Huxley’s "Brave New World," offering chemical management of mood, behavior, and productivity, though it is self-administered rather than mandated by the state. Ritalin is prescribed to enhance focus and calm, but its use (and misuse) can also produce euphoria, dependence, and withdrawal symptoms, echoing some psychological mechanisms attributed to Soma’s fictional role. However, Ritalin is a real stimulant with known physical and mental risks, while Soma is a literary creation imagined as uniformly pleasurable and socially pacifying—making their “purpose” comparable mainly in philosophical critique, not medical reality.
