Magic Feet is an english label we really like at LYO. Running 12" from artists like Timothy J.Fairplay, Antoni Maiovvi, Kalidasa  or the most underrated balearic duo "Tommy Awards" (we played to death both of their MF releases)headhoncho Craig Bratley continues his path without caring about the trends. Those familiar with the world of dub-disco and modern Balearica should know all about Layne Fox, a San Francisco-based producer who has released some killer records over the last decade on labels such as Permanent Vacation, Rong or Leng as part of noted collective "40 Thieves" 
Now, Fox has decided to go it alone for an outing on Magic Feet that marks his first solo outing since 2005’s "Move Me" under the Tuffy alias. It’s something of a gem, too, effortlessly combining many of his familiar influences with nods towards druggy Italo-disco and horizontal pop.
Magic Feet boss Craig Bratley handles remix duties himself, offering a complimentary but notably different interpretation. His version subtly emphasizes the track’s downbeat pop credentials, pushing the vocal to the fore above a sparse electro groove, dreamy pads and flashes of acid-inspired electronics. Think Cold Wave vibes but with actual production values, not pretend ‘mastered on cassette’. It’s the perfect accompaniment to Fox’s hypnotic, head-in-the-clouds original ! Enjoy

Phonica Records Special Editions in association with Play It Again Sam is delighted to present the incredible Quiet Village remix of Agnes Obel’s ‘Stretch Your Eyes’, lifted from the Danish born, Berlin based singer songwriter’s critically acclaimed 3rd studio album ‘Citizen of Glass’.

Obel was at an early age guided into music by the influence of her parents, who would play and listen to a blend of the classical greats, folk music and contemporary pop. She learnt to play piano as a child but it was her move to Berlin in 2006 that prompted her to take her music to the next level. Her debut Philharmonics was released in 2010, a quiet phenomenon that spent seven consecutive weeks at number 1 and sold in excess of 100,000 copies in her homeland alone. The release of ‘Aventine’ in 2013 cemented her status as a household name across Europe and as an icon to piano players throughout the world.

Quiet Village are the British duo of long-time record-collector and DJ Joel Martin and Matt Edwards, the house and techno producer known as Radio Slave and the head of the Rekids label. They came to our attention with a series of highly sought after twelves on the DJ Harvey-related Whatever We Want label from New York, alongside excellent remixes of The Osmonds, Toby Tobias, Black Devil Disco Club and Francois K before releasing their acclaimed album on K7 Records in 2008. After a break from using the Quite Village name, the duo are back with a bang and recently graced the Phonica White label with a fantastic techno 12” ‘Social Music’ / ‘Change’.

Needless to say, Quiet Village were the first producers Phonica thought of when looking for remixes for this project and their slow, dark, dub-heavy atmospheric groove perfectly compliments Agnes’s vocal, with echoes of Massive Attack’s timeless ‘Teardrops’ coming to mind. It’s one of the finest remixes we’ve heard in recent memory and we’re proud to present it as a limited 12” on the Special Editions label.

London based club night and newly formed label Snap Crackle & Pop's third releases comes in the form of a dark take on new wave influenced techno from Berlin based New Yorker Curses. Side A kicks off with a hypnotic techno stomper Another View which playfully tips its hat to early electro albeit through a visor of coldwave inspired guitars. Together In The Dark delves into even darker territores with ice cold organs reaching for the light through the grinding ambient yet groovy undertones. On the B-side Inga Mauer ramps up the dancefloor tension with her machine like acid rework pulsating and crashing urgently Together In The Dark, whilst The Golden Filter turn out a low slung trip of brooding synths and haunting vocals before cascading down the rabbit hole in a swell of industrial motorik beats and percussive explosions in their take on Another View.

Le Mage

Olivier Noël, aka "n o x V Λ n d e r s", is a Franco-Cameroonian DJ and producer who has explored various musical genres since the 90s. He took his first steps in Switzerland, in Basel, under the name "Blackangel", where he made crowds vibrate during wild raves, particularly in abandoned factories of the Swiss food company "Le Bell."

In the 2000s, he moved towards more accessible sounds, exploring electro house under the alias "DJ Coolfun", not hesitating to flirt with what he himself calls "commercial soup." Three of his sets from that time can still be heard on SoundCloud (@dj-coolfun) and on edeejay.com (www.edeejay.com/profile-125718/video/).

But it was in 2012 that he fully immersed himself in the depths of progressive trance, refining his approach to mesmerizing sounds.

In 2015, Olivier made a radical shift towards drumstep under the alias "Skyloox" and dubstep by changing his alias to "OnBass 1978", mastering powerful drops and shattering rhythms. During this period, he left an indelible mark in Lorraine, mixing for various events and radio stations, including the iconic Radio-Déclic FM in Moselle. His explosive sets from that time can still be listened to on Mixcloud (www.mixcloud.com/OnBass/).

Always seeking evolution, Olivier returned to trance in 2020 under the alias "Oliver Chrisma5" (www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFzQr9gGdFQ), before diving headfirst, in 2024, into the retro-futuristic sounds of Synthwave, Vaporwave, and Chillwave.

Today, under the identity of "n o x V Λ n d e r s", he explores linear and mesmerizing soundscapes, blending melodies that are sometimes dark, sometimes bright. While respecting the unique codes of Synthwave, he allows himself to venture into other genres, notably dub and electro, while staying true to his vaporous and melodious atmospheres. Each production is an invitation to travel through time and space, a true musical journey back to the future.

His inspirations draw from the work of artists such as Daft Punk, Skrillex, Tiesto, Deadmau5, DJ Snake, Seven Lions, and Kavinsky. Additionally, he draws from pioneers of electronic music like Tangerine Dream, Jean-Michel Jarre, and Vangelis, as well as modern Synthwave and Vaporwave artists such as The Midnight, Mitch Murder, Timecop1983, and Com Truise.
