"Back of Beyond" has been the primary project of Hill of Non aka Abhih Singh's year in an old Portuguese house in Goa. He faced a few unique and interesting challenges such as a roof was that made of tiles which leaked when it rained, the high humidity, which meant that he had to wrap his equipment in plastic each day, along with adventures in finding stray snakes and a few cats and dogs around. Most profoundly, in his experience, he found himself alone a lot . "Back of Beyond" is about the things he thought and felt while having solitary production sessions in the middle of all this, and his experiences and the artistic development that it brought about.

This Sampled Dialogue from an interview with Bob Marley
always inspired me to look at things in a different perspective.
I wanted to build a track from my perspective of the concept
of Materialism and how the realization of its negative effects
on my life allowed me to let go of it.
A Soft Wurlitzer accompanied with pads make the bed of the
track, the idea of adding vocals to this track came along very
later in the process but turned out to be the prominent features
of this track. A blend of the Carnatic vocals and Bluesy

vocals, along with signature vocal chops. The outro of the
track involves synthesis of multiple Square waves creating a
crowded atmosphere. Overall, this track is heavily influenced
by the Afrobeat and hip-hop genres along with strong ideas
from Daft Punk.

Raunaq Sandhu aka Mr Sandhu is a Mumbai based producer who has been producing electronic music for the past 4 years. His latest release, Sadi is inspired by his memories of listening of Punjabi music when young and the elation he felt then. The track aims to fuse the Deep Tech / Deep House sound with the same. Although his signature sound, somewhere between deep house from the likes of, Anjunadeep, Lost and Found, Juicebox music and techno/deep music from labels like Afterlife, Keinemusik and Steyoyoke, has been compositions usually painted with moody atmospheres and focusing on percussive elements and subtle melodies. "Sadi" is a break from this as though breaking the surface from the state of being submerged underwater, which best represents, visually his previous releases. In his musical journey Raunak, in his childhood had trained in the dhol and guitar and the knowledge of these intricate grooves and melodies is something he is inspired by and tries to incorporate in his electronic productions.

The track is based on a simple instrumentation and structure layered with strong, intimate vocals. Coming from an R&B / Pop space with influences from Hip-Hop and Trip-Hop, the duo has a unique collaborative process, with both currently based out of different countries. In terms of their workflow, Sukruth primarily creats the instrumentation and beats, while Taamara, writes, performs and produces the vocal elements.
