LOUIS ARMSTRONG - WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD (ACOUSTIC + STRING COVER )

My name is Wish, I made a wish, and the Wish made me... 🫂 

The schoolyard is quiet—just the hum of cicadas and the slow wilt of a summer afternoon.
A girl sits cross-legged on the grass, muttering under her breath. Each time she whispers the words “I wish,” she plucks a petal from the flower in her hand.

"I wish they would shut up, I wish I didn't have to come here, I wish I had... a friend... I wish my family was normal, I wish we had money, I wish... I wish it had been mum... I, I..."

Her voice cracks on the last word. Tears spill before she can stop them.

"I don't wish that..."
"I—"

Her head bows, shoulders trembling.
"I'm sorry."

The flower crumples in her fist, its petals crushed to pulp. A shadow slides across the ground toward her. She stiffens, sensing someone there.

She throws the ruined flower forward like she’s casting away her thoughts.
"I wish they would just get lost."

"You're poor."

The words sting—but the voice is unfamiliar. The girl's head sinks lower, bracing for the insult that’s sure to follow.

"Yeah, they hit me too..."

That wasn’t what she expected. She looks up—and meets a grin. The girl standing before her is a mess: dirt smudged across her face and uniform, knees and elbows scraped raw.

"I beat them all up!"

The newcomer flexes a skinny arm, proudly patting the bump of a nonexistent bicep.

"Really?"

She laughs, loud and unbothered. "No way, they shoved me into the dirt and kicked me!"

There’s a pause—then her eyes light up. "I'll call you Wish!"

Wish blinks, taken aback. "Huh?"

"That's what you were doing when I got here, right? Wishing."

Wish just stares. No one at school talks to her like this. Not kindly. Not at all.

"You can call me Ttangkong, that's what everyone calls me! Or, they used to... I ain't letting you call me what those other girls said."

Ttangkong reaches down and grabs Wish’s hand, tugging her to her feet with a strength that feels larger than her frame.

"So, Wish, you want to learn a curse?"

Her grin turns conspiratorial.

Wish can’t help smiling back, a thought blooming quietly in her chest: "You’re the wish."

Ttangkong tilts her head, puzzled. "You know you are a little weird though, why are you smiling like that?"

Wish pouts. "Chamgyeonhagi joahaneun saram, I should call you Balbali!"

"Busy? I like it!"

Bizi—Ttangkong—laughs again, that rough, radiant laugh that fills the empty park.
"You know, I feel like we could take over the world together..."

Maybe only one wish was ever granted.
But maybe—
it was the only wish that ever needed to be.
