*BIO*

From his first time on stage playing bass at his high school’s talent show, Jake has been elevating audiences with deep pocket bass grooves. Since 2008, he has played bass alongside a number of artists and bands in hundreds of venues across the United States. Born and raised on the east coast, Jake currently resides in Massachusetts and is active as a bassist, composer, and instructor in New England’s vibrant music scene. 

Growing up, Jake’s exposure to the music and cultural contributions made by the master alchemists of music served as a catalyst for his decision to pursue studying bass and music with more academic rigor. In 2013, he completed his Honors Thesis at Fitchburg State University entitled “A Re-Examination of Funk’s Musical Influences and Cultural Heritage,” under the direction of internationally recognized composer and arranger Dr. Michele Caniato, which argued for the importance of funk music in American culture and demonstrated the intricacy of the genre. He further enhanced his studies by enlisting Boston’s own bass and sintir legend Mike Rivard (Boston Pops Orchestra, John Medeski, Morphine, Club D’Elf) as his instructor and bass coach.
